Has anyone got this?
Any comment on the quality, in comparison with the Kino release too?

I picked this up and immediately noticed the gamma looked "right". A few Kino discs were mastered at the wrong gamma levels and were too bright, and THE REIVERS is clearly one of them.

This Explosive release is mastered properly, and I'd also say the stereo sound seemed less constrained and had more of a presence here. Could just be it was mastered at a higher volume but it sounded superior.

The downside is the compression looked a bit dodgy and inferior to the Kino disc. I didn't compare bit-rates but I could see more artifacts in the compression of the DE disc.

Overall though, the image has its benefits and I'm glad I picked it up. Also has a couple of extras, an old featurette and a TV spot, though both have an on-screen caption like "1969 featurette" running in the center of the screen on both of them for no apparent reason.

It's also Region FREE despite carrying a "B" tag on it, btw.

Yeah I'm just figuring that out. I heard some talk but didn't pay a lot of attention to it because it's not as obvious with my old plasma and its black levels. Being elevated doesn't make a massive impact watching this disc on that set.

With my new 4K set, though, it's obvious to the point where the Kino disc looks wrong (and the only way I can get it to look like the Explosive release is turning the gamma literally all the way down).

Explosive's compression is laughable -- in this instance. I'd fancy a UK release... hopefully Eureka can strike a deal with Paramount for a 3rd go and have at it.

The Reivers is a CBS property.

It'd be nice to see it happen. Between the Kino gamma and the Explosive compression we could stand something that gets it both right.
