Thought this film deserved its own thread. A well made, revenge/gangster film with horror overtones.

Watched the Second Sight Blu-ray last night and was very impressed. Neil Maskell (Kill List) was once again impressive and the ending was very interesting.

Thoughts please?

Watched this a while back and thought it was excellent. Bit of a mashup ( revenge/gangster with horror undertones). Been wanting to pick this up but not willing to pay nearly £30 for a blu ray with tat i dont want. Thought Second sight always released a standard edition alongside the limited version?

Books aren't "tat", but the one that came with Bull is admittedly on the smaller end of the scale (3 essays rather than 4). It's a shame HMV don't price match SS's own price of £24.99, because with a 20% off code you'd be able to get it for more or less what a standard release would cost. CEX do it for £18 if you're near one of the ones that has it in stock and want to avoid paying postage? SS's standard prices seem to be consistently £17.99 nowadays so again, nothing to lose really. I'd say the book is a bargain for the £2.95 postage cost if you were to go that route.

Anyway, SS do release standards at the same time but that's a relatively recent thing, Bull must have been one of the releases just before that practice came in. For the time being you're gonna have to play the waiting game. Shouldn't be too far off though I'd imagine.

As for the film, I also thought it was good. Neil Maskell is a fantastic actor. I especially appreciated how it ended up going to places you're not necessarily expecting it to!

Also loved this nice gangster film with good horror elements. I remember watching Utopia and thinking Neil Maskell was scary in that then saw Kill List. May rewatch this again for the Halloween thread.

Excellent film. Like so many films it got a bit lost during COVID.

Neil Maskell is always worth watching.

I found it scared me in the same way as Jonathan Glazer's Under the Skin (scariest film ever made). They are quite different films, though.

Oh yes, hardcore flick. Really brutal. I was lucky enough to pick up the French blu for a song on eBay.

Unless you really did offer to serenade the seller in exchange for the Blu-ray? In which case, rock on!

I've now realized that you're serious! It's an Australian saying which I unconsciously thought might've also been used in the UK, given our connection and use of other similar colloquialisms. People say it over here when you find something to buy at an incredibly low price. Another one is, "That price is a steal!"

Ohhhhh..

I actually did quickly google "Australian slang song" before initially commenting, but as you can imagine with those search terms all I got was a load of comedy songs about Australia so I didn't dig much further than that.

Anyway, I can safely say I've never heard anybody say that before in my life and would bet most of my fellow Britbongers would be equally as dumbfounded! We do say that things are a "steal" though. That's quite a common expression. IRL I say "barg" (as in bargain) a lot too, but probably wouldn't type it.

p.s. You spelled "realised" the American way.
Is that actually the norm down under?
