Default Blu-Ray & 4k Releases + Rentals = Ritual

In my daily life, my family knows that every Tuesday is "Release Day" and or "Redbox Day."

On Tuesday, I head over to Best Buy to pick up the newest releases + browse the newest sales on movies, etc. If any other store has the exclusive I wan't, I'll go there, but 95% of all the movies I buy will be from BB. Heck, I see a lot of the same people working at BB, and some know me now.

If it isn't a Tuesday with a bunch of Day 1 pick up's I'll still head to Redbox to rent a couple movies, you know, the ones that you'd like to checkout, but don't necessarily want to own.

If Tuesday is a BIG Release day, (like tomorrow with Coco, Three Billboards & Darkest Hour) I'll still hit up Redbox later in the week for other releases I've yet to see.

Wrap it all up in a ball and Tuesday night is my late night with watching a couple NEW movies whether it's a pickup or a rental. As another example, one of my good friends works four 15 hour shifts, but gets Friday-Sunday off. He has his movies shipped to his house, and then he watches his movies/shows all day Friday.

I'm curious, do you guys have your own movie day/night situations every week? I know there's young and old people in this forum, married, single, etc. I'm pretty sure there are some good stories to go with that.

Wait for UPS or USPS to deliver my items to work and pray that the wife and I can find time to watch them eventually between work, NBA games on in the evening, taking our oldest son to practice and spending time with him, our 2 year old and each other. My pile of unwatched movies just keeps, growing and growing. We do manage to go to the movies every Sunday because the kids will hang out with their grandpa for a few hours and some Wednesday nights as long as there isn't a Golden State Warriors game on.

I grew up (still currently live) in the Bay Area, East Bay to be exact! If the Warriors are on, that comes first at my house too! I don't have any kids yet, but I know things will have to drastically change when it comes to watching movies.

Back in the day I would go to whatever store had the best deal for, what I call New Release Tuesday, and wait in my car until the store opened. Got many great deals that way. Now, I usually wait for a blu-ray to go on sale. Sometimes I will buy a blu day one, but I usually wait.

I’m a teacher, and after a loooooong day....around 7:00, I shut down any work and turn off all the lights in my apartment. Then I watch Blu movies and TV shows on DVD/ Blu for usually he next 3_4 hours. A great way to decompress.

It's probably the ocd in me, but the 'ritual' now is probably just as much about trying to decide what to part with as it is on what to buy. Clutter's one of those things that drives me crazy, even digitally, and so there are regular bouts of deciding what stays and what goes. Just don't buy that much much stuff on release weeks anymore and after a certain point in collecting it can seem like a laborious chore to catch up on blind buys or otherwise unwatched purchases that have been stockpiling for some time. As a life long procrastinator, the non-committal aspect of renting or streaming can be more fun in that regard since there's the time pressure of watching that day with rentals or the prospect of a movie expiring through streaming services.

Absolutely! It's a stress reliever for me as well.

I generally don't buy movies when they are new, I wait for the sales especially at Christmastime. This past month has been rough though, as I picked up Thor Ragnarok, Justice League, and Star Wars VII UHDs at (or near) launch day.

Anyway, I'm a night owl so I stay up later than the rest of my family. So several nights a week after my wife goes to bed I'll pick out a movie, put on some headphones and watch a good movie.

I like to keep up with what is coming out, on here and through RedBox. Movies I think I will like I put on my Amazon wish list, to watch for the price to drop. Don't often buy movies at full price if I can help it. Besides checking this site all the time one thing I do on a weekly basis is watch a few youtubers as they go movie hunting and talk about new releases/criterions, etc.
