Default Muppet Babies (Disney, 2018)

It's happening ... A new version of Muppet Babies, this time for a younger audience. Two 11 minute stories per episode. Can't find an English article right away. But the image above is an actual still from the computer animated show, imitating the puppet-feel.

I really liked the original Muppet Babies ... Not much hope for the new version.

I hope they have Nanny and all you see of her is her feet and legs.

I always liked Muppet Babies. The parodies they did are classic. In fact, I saw the Muppet Babies parodies before I saw the actual thing they were parodying. Which made it all the more funnier when I re-watched them years later.

I was really hoping they would be done with rebooting the Muppets after that awful 2015 series. But nope. They carry on.

It seems as if they want a plush-like felt look for the show. But I'll have t wait until 2018 to find out more info. I can't see this as being particularly bad, since it's a children's show aimed at pre-school audiences. So there shouldn't be any dirty jokes, or filthy innuendos. I just hope the CGI is decent.

One of the funniest and corniest jokes I've ever heard was from this show.

"I'm running for President."
"Well you better start running now because Washington D.C. is a long way from here!"

I never got the hate for the 2015 series ... In my humble opinion, they've managed to move everything that makes The Muppets enjoyable to a modern day show. Respectfully and without losing anything that's pure Muppets.

Thumbs down

Personally, I don't think anybody can take Barbara Billingsley's (June Cleaver on the Leave It To Beaver TV Series from 1958 to 1962 or 1963) place as the voice of Nanny. This will be a disaster of epic proportions for that reason alone.

Thanks. Here's hoping they finally release the original Muppet Babies series on DVD/blu ray already after all those years. The Indiana Jones, Star Wars episodes are highlights.

I remember the Mcdonalds tie in with the muppet babies where they gave out stuffed animals with their happy meals at Christmas time.

I also remember losing my Fozzy bear when he got sucked into the vacuum cleaner at the car wash but I eventually got him back.

That was a nice promotion tie in from McDonalds back in the day.

Yeah, if this show keeps the same theme as the cel cartoon original show of Muppet Babies, then it might have a chance to appeal to fans of the original. But if they instead make it more of a Sesame Street style show, where they're learning numbers and letters...

From the video below, it sounds like they're trying to also appeal to fans of the original, so that's hopeful:

Sweet, Muppet baby Jesus! The original was after my time with The Muppets, so I don't have any nostalgia for it, which is good because I don't think I could bear to watch something like this unless it worked on two-levels like The Amazing World of Gumball, etc.

Yeah, i think i was a year or two just too old for Muppet Babies when it came on. So i found the whole thing a bit safe, boring a "twee" I was already massively into G1 Transformers and Star Wars at the time.

Good lord that teaser was horrible. But it looks like it was aiming at the same age as the original so i can't be too tough on it.

I did watch the original cartoon as a kid. When I was 7 to 11 or so. No way that show was targeted at the same age of children as this new version. This looks like it's for toddlers. The stories, jokes and complexity of the events in the old version were not suited for that age at all. The show was full of real movie scenes and references too.

They should retitle it as Disney presents Jim Hensons Muppet Babies....
Disney did not create the Muppets or Muppet Babies.only acquired it..& it sickens me that they disrespect Jim Henson, his memory & his creation. Even DC & Marvel give repect to much of thier comic creators.

I don't get why they took Skeeter away just to add a penguin. Also, Rowlf will not be a regular (just a cameo), no Scooter, and Nanny is "Miss Nanny" and looks different. (Airplane socks?)

http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Muppet_Babies_%282018%29

But at least it is Muppet exposure to the kids.
