Unfortunately mostly DVD only, but a good distributor worth supporting.

(Sulphur & White cover is up on Amazon.)

Anyone else notice they've done a flurry of new titles for pre-order, and none of them are DVD only for once?!

All out on November 11th:

Evil Does Not Exist
Green Border
Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus
Tish
Kensuke's Kingdom

Great news! Hoping they revisit the likes of Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Falling, Luxor, Family Romance LLC and Happy as Lazzaro. If not, license them out to any interested parties!

Utoya July 22 is fantastic. One of the most appropriate uses of a film using a single-take that I've seen. Definitely not a gimmick. Harrowing stuff though, which probably goes without saying.

Well worth it even if it's only DVD. None of the BD's have English subtitles (that I'm aware of) so it's the only viable physical option for those in the UK.

It was announced yesterday that Modern films had acquired the UK/Irish rights to Memoir of a Snail: https://www.screendaily.com/news/lff...198329.article

No doubt it will receive a Blu Ray release in the UK now and people won't have to import the Madman edition to be released in January 2025 in Australia.

That's splendid; no need to import the Criterion/Janus of Evil Does Not Exist now; it took me a while to find Modern's release on amazon UK as it's currently miscategorized as DVD only.

Modern Films licensed out Border and Drive My Car to MUBI.

Their release of Love Sonia never materialised but it had a region free BD-R in the US.

Only extras listed are postcards but Opus does have a booklet.

Would be nice if Evil could include Gift but it’s live performance only.

Will be picking up Green Border and Evil Does Not Exist.

The Italian Blu-ray (with English subtitles) is still kicking about it has a lovely transfer.

Modern Films could cut themselves out quite a niche if they go for lesser known film.

I'm happy to support them.

Happy to see a UK release for Evil Does not Exist!

Here it is at HMV, £14.99.

Cover not as nice as the Janus Contemporaries but still nice; with the 20% off at HMV a bit cheaper.

On the contrary, I saw it at the cinema and it was tipity-top.

I’m not into Carol Morley myself (Dreams of a Life felt exploitative, and fairly boring too) but I did hear vaguely positive things about that one.

I received my Evil Does Not Exist the other day. Did a quick flick through the film and the picture quality is great.

I really enjoyed that. I'd heard her name before and seen a couple of photographs but this is a nice look at her work.

Gets a bit silly at the end dropping into Ken Loach inaccurate territory about the DWP and 'data protection'.

Disc is A + B but the main feature is interlaced so may cause a problem if you have a crap setup in North America.

A total waste of a slipcover. A reversible cover would have been nice with some of her pictures.

I can also recommend:

It would be nice if they gave Memoir of a Snail and Soundtrack to a Coup d'état physical releases.
