Web extras don't interest me at all. Give me the movie with great video/audio quality and some documentaries in HD and I'll be happy.

Yep. Didn't care about them when HD-DVD had them and still don't care about them now that we have them. I'll go one better and say I just want the HD picture and sound and I'm happy Of course to those who have been waiting for this stuff, enjoy!

I'll laugh when next year when someone tries to use the HD-DVD web access and the 404 page not found error pops up Yeah web content is awesome!

Web content CAN be fun, depending on how you make it work. Right now, the HD-DVD side's version aims only to SELL you stuff, which I think is tacky.

Here's an example. Remember Mystery Science Theater 3000? The full-motion silhouettes of the characters can be done via a subtitle track, like what Sony did with the Men In Black DVD. So hypothetically, if MST3 producers want to do this, they can do it with ALL of the movies released on BD. Even better, if the studios release the tool so that anybody can make this subtitle/audio track and allow it to be downloaded.

The internet connection is just a tool. What you do with it that matters.

I like Blu-rays approach to HDM better. Start with the highest quality picture and sound on the movie itself. Special features pale in comparison to having an AVC 1080p picture and lossless audio on every disc.
