Default F.E.A.R - Live Action Adaptation From Warner Bros.

Source: Screenrant

Quote:

Machinima Studios has announced that they're developing a live-action adaptation of F.E.A.R., the 2005 first-person shooter horror game from Monolith Productions. Published by Warner Bros., the F.E.A.R. series immediately received a positive response from both critics and fans due to how it managed to blend the action of a shooter with the tense atmosphere of a horror game.

Machinima announced a partnership with screenwriter Greg Russo today, in which he will pen the script for a live-action adaptation of F.E.A.R. for Warner Bros.' Machinima label.

You would think Hollywood would be more hesitant on making video game into movie now, but I guess not.

Meh. I'd prefer Uncharted or Bio-shock. I'll still give this movie a watch though.

Uncharted is the only video game movie that has potential to be great. If that fails, then f*** it. I give up.

Great game, probably my favourite shooter ever. But I'm not sure it's movie material.

Everything can be movie material, if only they would put in the effort to write a solid motion picture screenplay.

You can take a one-sentence idea and turn it into a great movie with a good script.

They're actually going to try and do this? It won't work, especially after how the franchise has been dead in the water for years.

Ugh Machinema.

Love FEAR. If this was a proper movie (doesnt look like it) perfect casting would be Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke as pointman / paxton.

Considering they've made almost $400 million off of Rampage, I guess they're more open to pursuing video game adaptations.

Rampage was dead for way longer than F.E.A.R. has been, and that still did pretty well.

I love the original "FEAR" easily one of my favorite shooters but of all the Monolith properties to get an adaptation, I'd prefer "No One Lives Forever".

For Monolith, there's only two games that'd be amazing as a movie adaptation.

Monolith are also really cool people. Used to hang out a lot with them.

Maybe this will be better than the Doom movie. Would rather see them make Uncharted, Legacy of Kain, or Bioshock into a film.

There has never been -- nor will there ever be -- a good movie based on a video game. It's been 25 years since Super Mario Bros., and after a QUARTER CENTURY of awfulness, it's time to give it up.

Shame Shadow of War got mucked up in that Loot Box crap.

Technically, we already got it in the form of A Cure For Wellness.

Hey, I'd say Silent Hill was pretty good. It craps out at the ending, however.

Nah. I'm still open for at the very least, a God of War movie.

Yeah, I remember that, used to own and run their Discord server. It still had an amazing story though. I didn't expect Talion to become a Wraith at all - it tied in nicely with Return of the King.

Sounds great but why so late? These games are old..... Bioshock seems like a better bet!

"Super Mario Bros." is great because of the WTFery that you see what they did to the Mario games. "Silent Hill" nails the atmosphere and monsters of the game though it does stumble in terms of narrative. "Postal" is the greatest thing that Uwe Boll ever did.

BioShock was close years ago at Universal with Gore Verbinski but it was a struggle with budget concerns and a PG-13 or R rating.

That's the odd thing though, it needs a budget. What's really funny is that studio's will throw all kinds of money at films that bomb yet don't with some films that need a budget (dredd) and they fail because of marketing or whatnot.

Either way both of these films need to be R but I doubt bioshock will get made. I liked the fear universe so this could be good. Not very good odds when we look at other game films though. I am really surprised that Halo was never made into a film out of all the game films.
