Default Weird AL complete works (in replica squeezebox)

http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/weirdalyankovic

I figured this was worth posting. Weird AL is so engrained in pop culture I'm sure he has some fans on here. I'm floored with how amazing this set looks. I hope to get the $335 vinyl set if I can pull it off.

I still remember most of the words to Good Old Days.

I can still remember good old Mr. Fender
Who ran the corner grocery store
Oh, he'd strolled down the aisle with a big friendly smile
And he'd say "Howdy" when you walked in the door

Always treated me nice, gave me kindly advice
I don't know why I set fire to his place
Oh I'll never forget the day I bashed in his head
Well you should've seen the look on his face.

^^^ Nice, I had the CD for that when I was in the 8th grade or so. What was I, 12 or something?

My parents also got me this bad boy:

4 CDs covered the bulk of Weird Al's hits and career up to just before Bad Hair Day. I listened to all four discs like a fiend. Around high school, I nabbed Running With Scissors, and I think that one's still my favorite album of his. Whether I laughed or not at his songs, they were always well-constructed, catchy, and fun.

Wouldn't have pursued his older studio albums until much later in life. I think I have most of them now--not sure if I'd want this complete collection or not. Would love it if it came with all the music videos in high-def or something.

To hell with it, I placed an order. Good chance to scoop up all the albums I don't have, plus the bonus disc of demos and rarities.

I had that set too. I can't believe how much I've listened to him over the years. He is probably the main artist from my childhood I still actively listen too. I saw him in concert early last year and it was honestly the best concert I've ever seen. I've been to a hundred or so concerts over my life and his stands out as the best. Everything about the show was top notch.

Awesome man!!! I'm so jelous. I hope to lock mine in with my tax refund. Assuming I get it in time I want that $475 package with the signed test pressing...If the wife allows it is another story. At worst I'll get the $335 package. No way I'm missing this.

Understandable. This is not a cheap set by any means. If this was just a collection of released stuff i would pass myself. However with the exclusive album, exclusive packaging, and exclusive book i have to have it. Plus for the people who get the vinyl version they get some that have never been pressed before and would be exclusive.

Now that's awesome.

I don't seem to be a regular concert-going person. Only seen three in my life (Kid Rock, The Gorillaz, Thievery Corporation)--love the music, of course, but crowds and traffic tend to dissuade me, so I probably won't go to many more. I think I prefer to watch the performances vicariously through videos.

I do have the Alpocalypse Tour Blu-Ray, and I really ought to watch it. His music videos throughout the years have also been really awesome.

Thank you, hope you all get your orders in successfully. Looks like preorders close next month, and the set ships in November (I assume they charge now though ). Might be time to scrounge up some money.

I figure this beast will chomp at my credit now, but I'll make up for it later. Unless they release more of those David Bowie box sets--this might be one expensive year in music for me.

So here it is: November. And just as I feared would happen, I moved just as the set shipped.

Fortunately, a good friend of mine let me ship it to his house. So he received it and handed it off to me just yesterday. Man, it was a huge box. I brought it back to my hotel room (my new house doesn't close for another couple of weeks). Opened it up and behold the glory of the complete squeezebox. It's a lot bigger than I first expected--I guess it didn't register with me that all the sleeves are record-sized. I'm not sure how well the discs will fare in their envelopes (which are scrunched when you squeeze the accordion-style box together, but I don't expect the discs to move much this way). It's a package I could take or leave, really--it's the music I wanted the most, and I finally have all the albums altogether.

I believe they remastered the albums. I don't have the equipment with me to really scrutinize the audio, but from my laptop the songs sound decent. What excited me the most was getting the Medium Rarities album--about 52 minutes worth of bonus tracks, some of which I heard before, many I haven't. I totally forgot about his "Spy Hard" theme--glad to finally have it in my collection. Along with a Japanese version of "Jurassic Park," the "extra gory" version of "The Night Santa Went Crazy" (different last verse), the ridiculous "Lousy Haircut" song, and a bunch of short jingles. A lot of it is familiar, but there's some good never-before-heard stuff in there too.

The set also comes with a really thick book, about the same width and length as a record sleeve, with maybe a hundred or so pages. Not much information, but definitely a lot of good photos and collages.

It's a cool set for fans, and I'm happy to have it in hand.

And one more thing: between my last posts and the time I moved, I watched the Alpocalypse concert, and it was phenomenal. Also picked up the Alpocalypse HD disc (few good videos), and the Compleat Al (which is fairly amusing). Al is the man.

Does your copy of the booklet show the Cassette track listing? My copy is the CD one and it shows the Cassette track listing.

Do you mean the booklet for the Permanent Record set you quoted? I won't be able to check for a while. I believe the track listing was accurate for the CDs though--I didn't even realize the cassette version would be different.

Yes the CD one. The booklet I have shows the cassette and not CD. I realize its the same list but it just shows them as cassettes and not which CD is what.

That's only the middle verse. The first verse is about torturing animals and the third verse is torturing his date to the homecoming dance.

Moving in sure is a mess this month, but I did go through all the books and I found the Weird Al box set booklet. Looking at the back of it with the track lists, I just see four colored boxes with all the song titles in them. Sounds like yours is different. Skimmed through the pages and didn't see any cassettes. To me, it sounds like yours is different somehow.

weird. Unfortunately I don't have access to mine but still must have been a manufacturing error. Possibly someone but the cassette booklet with mine instead of the CD one
