Default Anyone Notice the Price Increase from Best Buy?

When purchasing 4K movies, I have attempted to complete those transactions by links from this website to do my part. Currently, I have approximately 148 4K movies. While most of the links here have taken me to Amazon, where I have a Prime membership, there are times the links will take me to Best Buy and even Target. Having a local Best Buy, I periodically drop in and buy disks in the store as well.

One of the things I liked about Best Buy when buying online was the free shipping as long as you met the $35.00 threshold, and as everyone knows, if you are buying more than one movie thru Best Buy, you will easily beat that mark.

Yesterday I went online at Best Buy and started the purchase process for Star Wars The Last Jedi, Thor, and the Murder on the Orient Express. I noticed right away the purchase total seemed to be too high, and then I saw where Best Buy was charging $3.99 shipping for each movie. I cancelled the transaction. I thought it may have been a fluke and redid it and I got the same result.

I went on Best Buy's Facebook page and complained. About two hours later I got a curt and canned response that gave no explanation for the price increase on the added shipping costs except to say I should consider picking the movies up at the local store.

I'm sorry but after two years of buying 4K movies, there hasn't been any price reductions for the buyer, and then Best Buy did a complete about face and started adding $3.99 per movie for shipping. After spending what I have at Best Buy, I'll not be spending anymore. Shame on them.

If they dropped the free shipping feature on orders of $35 or more it will probably end up biting them on the arse. Frankly, I rarely buy anything from them anymore. The stores are messy, the "help" is still no help at all, the disc section is shrinking by leaps and bounds, and their prices aren't all that great.

below is from "my bestbuy" (Elite & Elite+ members get free shipping on everything. Elite+ members get free 2 day shipping on everything)

Free Shipping4 on purchases $35 and up at BestBuy.com.
$35 minimum purchase does not include tax.

4 Qualifying items display a "Free Shipping on Orders $35 and Up" message. Movies, music, pre-owned games, special order, scheduled delivery and other select items do not qualify. The $35 order total is after coupons and before taxes, and does not include select digital downloads, e-gift cards, special orders, scheduled delivery items, and any items canceled or removed from the order.

The ironic thing is Best Buy still advertises the free shipping over $35.00 on their website, but it no longer applies to 4K movies??? Best Buy is not the best buy.....

I guess the 14 receipts I have from Best Buy from 2016 and 2017 were all mistakes from Best Buy, because all 14 receipts were for movies only, there was not one instance of shipping charge on any of them, and I do not have a special membership with Best Buy.

Their website is probably just bugged. Check back again in a day. It's nothing to freak out about. Glitches happen all the time. If they did away with the free shipping then those banners and advertisements will come down. Anyone who shops Best Buy frequently knows that these things happen from time to time.

They are still one of the very best in the business, and one of the only major retailers to have sales and deals on BD media.

Cool story bro. Stop being cheap and pay the $3.99 or stop being lazy and drive down to the store. Waaaaaah

I'm not saying your receipts are wrong, I am only posting what they (BB) say about free shipping for $35 pertaining to movies.

doesn't mean they don't make exceptions for special deals. I have not paid shipping for orders from BB for years as I've maintained either Elite or Elite Plus membership.

good luck with your resolution.

Just added a few 4K releases to my cart and started the checkout process; the free shipping on $35+ still seems to work for me.

Well, it wasn't a weird loop, but instead a bit of a glitch. Free shipping showed on invoice for 2 of the 3 movies, and the third movie I had a choice of 3-13 or 3-20, and when picking 3-13, it activated shipping costs on all three movies. When I changed the shipping date from 3-13 to 3-20, it removed all the shipping costs and indicated free shipping. I can see now why they were pushing toward the 3-20 date because then it would be one shipment instead of two. I've just never had this happen before and when I asked for a response from BB I got a canned response, which warmed me up a bit. Once I got all the DA out of my system, and read remarks from you and others, I went back to the site and saw what I was doing to kick in the shipping charges. I appreciate everyone's responses.

I'm still seeing FS on $35 orders of 4K items
I even tried with the 3 items you listed and got FS - $83+tax

Sign in and out of your account. Clear your cache/cookies. Try a different browser.
Change shipping speeds and see if FS shows up as an option again near the end of checkout.
Somebody else said this happened to them last week and he was getting $3-4 shipping per item, but it fixed itself with
some simple recycles so it seemed to be a weird gltich

The FS language seems to be the same as it always has been.

I buy 4K discs from Best Buy in-store when possible because they price match Amazon. There have been times when Best Buy wants $5 or even $10 more than Amazon.

For what you're paying to maintain the Elite Reward Zone status, which is $1,500.00 per year and $3,500.00 for the Elite Plus, you're not getting nothing for free! You've already paid for it.

I just confirmed free shipping (not logged into my account and tried checking out as a guest). Probably a bug that's since been resolved.

I'm not paying anything. I make a lot of purchases from BB, I get most of my movies and electronics from them, all I did was sign up for it. cost me nothing to do. just to maintain the Elite status, could be done by purchasing one UHD movie per week; I do buy a lot of movies, so, there's that. why not take advantage of some of the benefits offered since I'm buying movies all the time anyway?

I appreciate and respect that your not part of it for your own reasons.

BBY.com PM Amazon too. If you have a store nearby so much the better and you can pick your own slipcover (if that's your thing), check case for cracks, avoid floaters, etc. Obviously depends on in-stock status.

Easier -- just use my BBY Visa and use it on everything you'd use a regular card for. $1500/3500 in Gas, Utilities, Food, Groceries, Clothes, Gifts, Gift Cards, etc earns lots of RZ points and pushes me to an easy RZ Upgrade on stuff i was going to use it for anyway. It's actually CC Points I can actually use which makes it even better. Elite/Plus status gets me amplified RZ point, bonus return time (and equivalent post price protection) which by itself makes the Free Shipping a bonus and trumps Amazon for $0 per year since the only part of Prime that's even remotely useful is the Free Shipping part.

0% interest per year by paying it off monthly, 100x safer than cash or Debit cards, i
Just like I said!, you're not getting nothing for free. These companies are not giving you free: gasoline, utilities, food, clothes, etc you still have to pay for them. So therefore, to maintain Elite and Elite + status, you'll have to spend more money. In today's society, you don't get something for nothing!

Well it all depends on how you look at it. You buy gas for your vehicle anyway you also buy food to eat. So so what he is suing is just using his card instead of his bank card or cash. If he pays it off each month which then would be no interest on the card after he has spent 3500 on it which he would be spending either way he then gets free shipping on his actual orders from them those getting free shipping out of it. Those he is getting something for free especially if he orders something under 30 bucks.

This. That's exactly how I achieved Elite status. Use the card for gas and food purchases, pay it off every month, and ... Elite status! Being Elite status not only gets me free shipping without having to spend the minimum but actually saved me $100 today. We had bought a TV 27 days ago which just went down in price today. I was able to get a price adjustment with the 30-day period instead of not getting it for the normal 15-day period!
