Didn't see a thread for this yet.
I noticed at the end of the trailer it says in 3D. This looks good don't know if it was converted or filmed in 3D. |

It is filmed in 3D and has been known to be a 3D movie for a while now (either before or soon after the start of production, can't remember which). But the trailer does indeed look promising; Scott has been hit and miss recently for me (really liked Prometheus, a bit negative on Exodus, hated The Counselor), so hopefully this is him in top form.

Scott has always been more of a "visionary" director. If the script stinks or the actors aren't that passionate about the project, then it's just a bad film with nice visuals.
I cross my fingers and hope the visuals come with a nice story and actors who want to do the picture. |

I'll check it out knowing Ridley Scott is a fan of filming in 3D and the 3D looked good (high medium 3D) in the trailer when I saw it, with some strong 3D particles flying around (as we saw in Prometheus 3D too). It'll be interesting to see if he increases the 3D strength during the dialog scenes.
From the look of it, The Martian is about a stranded explorer trying to survive on Mars under extreme conditions after his alarm doesn't go off one morning and his crew forgets to wake him up for the trip back home. ![]() |

I have a feeling this will turn out to be a GREAT release once it hits blu. We might not get an extended/director's cut, but at least we'll most likely get exceptional supplements and a stunning transfer. Fox have been really good with Ridley Scott releases on the whole...

The novel is incredible, and I think Matt Damon is a great choice to play the main character, Mark Watney. Mainly because the character uses a lot of sarcastic humor throughout the story, and Damon is good at conveying that type of humor.

Should be interesting to hear some of that humor in the film hopefully. |

Cinemablend gave it a rave review. Lou Lumenick of the New York Post tweeted that this film is one of the best that Ridley has ever done in years. Type "The Martian" into the search bar on Twitter to read more. This film is based off an award winning novel (script shouldn't stink) and Matt Damon as the lead actor (he's usually very committed to his roles), this probably has the combination Ridley needs to be effective. |

Prometheus 3D, Exodus 3D, and now Martian 3D. I'm looking forward to see how or if he improves the 3D. The trailer's 3D looks high medium to strong.
January 2016, Ridley Scott will begin shooting Prometheus 2. I actually really enjoy part 1. |

I didn't think Ridley Scott's use of 3D in Prometheus or Exodus was particularly impressive, he's another director that sadly seems to avoid using the negative parallax as much as he can.
