This film is a perennial holiday season watch for me and one of my top 20 favorite 80's flicks, so I'll probably grab it if it's not like $30. I have the bluray and it's not bad but I feel like this movie needs a slightly better transfer and I'm hoping the 4K release looks great.

I was thinking about that the other day, funnily enough. People love to shit on Gremlins' Blu-ray transfer but it's not as bad as they think it is, whereas Police Academy's really does look like crap. When the damned trailer on the disc has a better transfer than the movie then you know you got problems.

Has Police Academy even gotten a Blu-ray release yet stateside? I imported the box set from the UK years ago, but I think it's still exclusive to other regions(albeit sans region coding), right?

Yeah there is no 4K coming when they havent even put out the regular BD in the US. Only thing I can think of is they held off with the intermittent news that the remake was coming...or it's not PC enough in today's climate. Weird either way

Really? Wow. I bought the German 1 & 2 double pack a while ago, I'd just assumed it got a US release in the interim. That makes it an even better candidate for a 4K release in the US then, although one wonders if there's some kind of internal strife at Warners as to its non-PC nature, as DMRI suggests.

Well hopefully they’ll do the sequel too (which I actually think is better than the first and honestly just one of the best sequels of all time. Brilliant and underrated movie).
