Not too happy. Was logged out of my PS4 as as someone else signed in as me on another console. btw I have never sold off or given away a former PS3 or PS4.
So I changed my email and password and deleted my debit card info. My old email and password were VERY unusual, no way an algorithm could have worked it out. Then fifteen minutes later, I was again logged out twice in a row as someone else signed in as me once more. Even though I had just changed all my sign-in information. My new password was very unique yet it was accessed very quickly. Has Sony been hacked again? |

That's very strange. What are you using to change the account info? The online site from a PC or right from the system? If it's from a PC I would worry about that being compromised. When you say you can tell somebody else is signing in, where are you finding that info?

It sounds like a glitch to me. I had similar problems a while ago and it just righted itself. I was trying to select the ‘appear as offline’ option and it wouldn't let me. I changed my password and the same thing happened several weeks later. Nothing was taken so I doubt I was hacked. It did give me the same message you got when it happened for the first time.

PSN doesnt need to get hacked. Lot's of people get PSN, Xbox (happened to me last gen) stolen as someone gets their e-mail and password elsewhere and that person either used the same password as where ever their info got stolen from, or they brute forced the password. 2FA will stop them. Also a good idea to use something like Lastpass to generate random passwords for every site (so you're not reusing them) and store them for you and change those regularly for important accounts tied to finances etc. Last edited by dmaul1114; 04-25-2018 at 06:56 PM. |

Thanks for all the replies. I can't set up 2FA since I don't have a mobile phone. This must have first happened on Tuesday since that evening, my wife couldn't play any of the digital games that I've bought. That's because the hacker had the barefaced cheek to activate his PS4 as the primary system!
I've switched my PS4 back to being primary and now she can play them. What amazes me is that it took just 15 minutes for the hacker to figure out my new obscure password. That's why I'm convinced that they have access to supposedly secure Sony information. Do you think I should contact Sony over this? And if so, how do I contact them? |

Does your Playstation share a router with a PC? Or is it on a wireless router?
Because it seems way more likely that you have been hacked (with a Virus/packet sniffer) or something similar than that PSN has. Even if PSN was hacked there's pretty much a zero % chance you'd be compromised in 15 minutes. To get at your information they'd have to wade through tons of data representing millions of people. |

Sorry to hear about that. That stinks.
For PSN, I only buy digital games using the $20 PS codes from those blue PS store cards that you can buy in retail stores. Then just plug in the code and it gives me credit to buy games. I was thinking of all the times PSN was overtaken in the past, and how to safely buy games in the store without having to use a credit card. I'm hardly ever connected to PSN except to buy games or try demos, being an offline gamer. |

PSN even outsources its network security. I was IP banned a little while back just because a former friend accidentally DDOSed me. Sony couldn't even tell me what to do about it, other than get a new IP. I ended up replacing my modem with the cable company to get back on PSN. :/
