I just picked up this TV 3 weeks ago. So far I love everything about it except one thing. Usually once a night while watching it the screen will go completely black for 2 seconds. It's done it while watching a disc and broadcast TV. Is this something I should worry about? I'm waiting to see if it increases in frequency before I lug this heave thing back to Best Buy.
Thanks for any insight. |

Can someone tell me whether sony every updated this tv to allow dolby vision playback over hdmi instead of only with streaming with the tv apps? I bought this tv a few days ago and part of the reason I bought it was for its dolby vision capabilities, but if it only shows dolby vision with streamed content that is extremely disappointing.

Sony got a new DV profile called low-latency for the 2017 models.
The update we all need is to the players, Oppo is getting theirs certified by Dolby so it can be released. The Sony X700 will also have this profile at some point. Which player do you have? Other brands of players have been silent AFAIK about adding this profile to their products. It is a very sad state of affairs. |

Keep in mind... that customer service person you spoke to from "Sony" is not really a customer service person with Sony... but rather a person who works in a call center in the Philippines who Sony has contracted with to handle customer service calls from the U.S. They have minimal training to deal with customer questions/problems concerning Sony TVs... but that is about it. I found that when I called them that I knew more about my Sony TV than they did. The whole experience was a complete waste of time for me. I found my answer concerning my problem/question from various Sony TV forums and Youtube videos about my TV.

i would take it back (exchange?) - (if you are otherwise happy with it, i would simply get another of the same model) - (seems the problem is uncommon and should be a concern for a new product) further, i would be quite concerned with regards to Dolby Vision support :: the 'Sony specific low-latency profile' limits you to both the Oppo and the Sony UBP-X700 (neither currently, that i am aware of, will play Dolby Vision 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray content :: certainly they will at some time in the future, but when is a question without an answer not criticizing Sony, but if you want Dolby Vision, i would look somewhere else as they are not doing so well with support at this point in time :: that may change someday, but if so is a gamble as i perceive it |

Sony’s DV update only applied to X-1 Extreme chips. I think your TV has an X-1 chip (not the Extreme version)? So I’m sure you’re right.

No, I agree if you want Dolby Vision go with a TV other than Sony. But for all the problems implementing DV I decided it wasn't worth chasing the latest & greatest, a game the electronics makers play with great finesse. |
