I think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy this one today. It's not too expensive. Hopefully it'll be a quality disc.

Yeah bitrates and screencaps would be helpful, if possible. Also a comment on the overall AQ and PQ would be great.

I can't provide BDinfo scans or caps, which is why I asked the other member if he can when he receives it.

I haven't watched it yet, I've been quite busy, and other discs have priority over it. The missus wants to watch it too (she doesn't remember the first film as well as she'd like, so we are going to do a double), but she is away at the moment, so I definitely won't be watching it for at least another week or two.

What I can tell you though from when I briefly put it on to check the specs, is that it's not a DVD upscale like someone was wondering above, however it is sourced from the same master as the DVD. The bitrate was fluctuating mostly between the high 20's and low 30's (I did see it peak just over 40 Mbps for a few seconds). There are some specks of dust, dirt etc. It's also a different cut to the region 4 DVD I have, the opening scene was extended. The disc does contain special features, but they are written in Japanese, so without translating them I can't tell you what they are.

So would you consider it a complete upgrade from the DVD (even though it seems to be from the same master of it, better PQ, better audio, etc)? I'm thinking I will order it...

I would assume so, he said he was the one that submitted the specs for it. It lists lossless for both English and Japanese, as well as subtitles in both languages.

Not yet. Due to some personal things I've barely been watching anything lately. I will report back when I do. Though I might be able to post some screen caps soon (as well as the BDinfo scan), which if I can works better for me, because I won't feel as though I have to watch it to provide feedback until I'm ready.

I know this was an old thread - I was wondering if anyone knew whether this disc includes the theatrical version of the movie, or just the uncut/extended version? I'm thinking about getting a copy, but I already have the uncut version on DVD and am hoping it includes the theatrical edition. Can anyone confirm which version / versions of the film are on this release?

*Update: I did purchase this and can confirm it is the Unrated cut of the film, and the quality is quite an improvement over the US DVD, although not necessarily the best and definitely not as good a transfer as the blu-ray for the first film.
