Default Marantz SR7011 question.

Hello everyone

I just recently bought the SR7011 and had few questions.

So far I like the unit however a few questions on the settings. I ran Audyssey and I see the results in the speaker section under Audyssey setup. I did not agree with some of the settings so I went to the manual settings and changed them. My question is how do I know those manual settings are applied and not the Audyssey settings? I changed the crossovers and levels but I’m not sure if it is using the Audyssey settings or my input.

Also when I hit the options button while watching a movie it brings up another menu where I can adjust the level for each channel again. They are all at 0 db and I can then adjust them? I am confused now as to what settings are being applied now? If I adjust the levels now in the options do they over ride my manual settings or the Audyssey settings?

There is also another setting in the audio section just for the subwoofers to adjust the bass but again is it on top of the manual settings or is it another level? I leave that off because I figure the other settings should be enough. Seems a little confusing to me to add so many adjustments when you have no idea what is being applied.

I am coming from an Integra reciever for about 10 years now (I wanted to upgrade to 4K pss through and most importantly Atmos) and it was pretty much straight forward. Once the Audyssey was done on that unit you just adjust it and done. It would apply to all speakers.

I guess I’m just confused with all the options that I don’t know what is being used and what levels? Again sorry for the long post and apologize if this has been addressed before. Thank you for all you input and time.

I think what you're looking for is manual speaker configuration settings.
So, in the menu for speaker settings, choose:
Manual Setup
Levels
The next option will say something like "Test Tone". Allow the test tone to play.

The next screen will show the virtual speaker room, and you can arrow left/right across the speakers while the pink noise plays. From there, you can add or reduce the volume of each speaker manually.

After that, the settings will remain what you set them to.

Changing the crossovers may not be an immediately noticeable difference, depending on what you're playing, and what speakers/setup you have overall.
Most of the time, if you have a subwoofer, it is recommended that all other speakers (yes, even your HUGE front left/right floorstanding speakers) would be set to "small". The sub should do the work within the range selected for your crossover. If you have floorstanding/large fronts, start with 70Hz, or 80Hz as the crossover. For smaller, satellite type speakers, try 100-120Hz.
On your subwoofer, put the crossover range/sweep at about 90Hz (if there is a crossover range dial on the sub). Move up/down on settings, listen for changes, and you can eventually 'dial in' what sounds best for your preferences and system.

I am not sure exactly what menu option you're talking about here, but look at my first post to set specific VOLUME levels for each speaker. Maybe you hit the menu button, and your video/audio source is going into the receiver. I believe what may have happened is you opened the menu options while the movie is playing. So there's no movie playing on the screen at that point, right? Just the Marantz menu? If so, it's the same menu that you'd get without having a video playing.
Refer to the previous post. Once you press the enter/center button on the remote, and then exit that screen, those settings should be set. It will be using your personal settings from that menu, not the Audyssey settings.

Subwoofer is probably set to "-1.0", or "1.0". Leave it where it is, since most subwoofers have their own volume knob. Adjust on the sub itself, it's easier that way. Dial in the volume of the sub based on your preference (which might change from movie to movie).

Thanks for the answers. So I did some tests adjusting the manual settings and I was able to tell the settings were being applied. As far as the options for the channel level that is an additional to the manual settings that I guess you can change on the fly.

I think I have set it to where I like it and I am really enjoying it. Now I ma trying to program my Xfinity remote and it wont seem to program.
