Disney announced Wednesday that it is moving up the release of Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" by seven months to Oct. 18, 2019. Can't find a reference to whether or not it will be in 3D but I would think it would be.

I really enjoyed the first one, much to my surprise. I found it both entertaining and very touching. I bought the 3D edition from the UK.

Of course I would love to have this on the shelf too but as others have said, no 3D no sale.

I wont even pay to rent it, I'll simply borrow it from my local library

Consider it confirmed. Just got back from seeing Aladdin and they played a 3D trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

Awesome news. Disney + 3D = a must buy. I enjoyed the first one very much, great family film. And the 3D on it was great too. My daughter is coming down for a week next month...taking me to Disney World. Disney is taking way to much of my wallet. I expect it to be really crowded. But still, should be lots of fun!

Can't find a single mention about 3D anywhere. Hopefully it will be as the first one looked very good in 3D.

I never saw the original, but I did see a trailer for this before Aladdin, and thought the 3D was quite impressive. It seemed filmed with 3D in mind and had some really nice depth and pop out to it. I'm probably going to use my AMC A-List to see this in 3D in the theater, so I should probably watch the first one beforehand!

I saw the 3D trailer before Aladdin 3D Saturday, and Maleficent 2's 3D is looking impressive, with high medium to strong 3D layers and pop outs. Wow, I was impressed and it made the Aladdin film's 3D pale in comparison (that film had mostly medium layers of 3D).

I was not going to see this film, but with the 3D and effects at this level, it's a must see for me now. Angelina Jolie was good in Beowulf 3D, so I'll give this a chance, not having seen the first one.

Crowds will be down a Disney next month. Try to go on a weekday. Avoid Saturday and Sunday. You will have a ball.

Just checked the Tampa area AMC theatres and Maleficent is opening Oct 17 with a 3D showing and multiple showings from Oct 18 on. Looking forward to seeing it and, for once, thanks to Disney and AMC for doing so!

There are a couple of theaters in the Nashville, TN area already listing 3D versions but the main theater near me only has it listed in "regular", Dolby Cinema, and IMAX... no 3D yet. I may have to travel a bit to see the 3D of this one.

I did see the 3D trailer at the Aladdin movie and it looked pretty strong. Not sure how much of the movie is "darkish" so that may cut down a bit on the 3D "pop" but the first movie had some great 3D and vivid colors.

Absolutely. The first movie is very good and the 3D is great too. I’d blind buy this from amazon UK or wherever. I’m IN!

Nice as it was, I can't say I thought the original's 3D was particularly impressive outside of the battle and magic scenes. Disney did a much better job with (for example) Beauty and the Beast.

Nevertheless, this is still a must-buy for me on 3D Blu-ray.

The 3D was definitely better in Beauty and the Beast but I much prefer Maleficent as a movie.
