I tried finding a dedicated post for the discussion of Black Friday this year but couldn't find one...
If you're on this forum, then you know that the game has presumably changed for Black Friday in 2024 given the decline of physical media representation at brick-and-mortar retail outlets. Over the last few years we've seen the movie sales evolve, dropping earlier and earlier online before the "shippers" start showing up in stores. As we approach the time that "leaks" typically start, what's everyone expecting this year? And has your spending changed because of this expected shift in the BF dynamic? For me, I've definitely spent more over the summer/fall months than in past years. I've found myself using the mystery that is BF '24 as a justification to just spend a few bucks more and get the titles I want now. At the same time, I've still held back on some marquee new releases in the hope that they'll follow previous trends and see great discounts come the holiday season. I still imagine Walmart and Target will offer movie sales, but who knows how aggressive they'll be. I'm also still holding out hope that some of the studios may still send shippers to Best Buy for the holiday rush...wishful thinking, I know. |
