Has anyone gotten this Blu-ray yet? Best Buy has it $8 but it's not available in my area.

Careful. You get what you pay for with Echo Bridge releases. Yes, they may be cheap, but they also have incredibly lousy video and audio quality, and usually a complete lack of extras. I've yet to see one that is a good upgrade over the DVD. They've been pumping out releases left and right lately, but so far not a single one of them seems worth a purchase, no matter how affordable they may be.
Unfortunately, they have also managed to get distribution rights to a number of worthwhile films. Purchasing them only encourages this kind of bargain bin effort, though. |

My rule of thumb is that, if it's an Echo Bridge release, I stick with my DVD copy. It's a shame too, because they're releasing a bunch of movies I like that I never thought I'd see on blu-ray. But the quality is just so poor.
As for these 2 movies, they're not half bad for DTV sequels. But I'm sticking with my DVD copies for now. |

My thoughts exactly. Leave it to freakin' Echo Bridge to screw it up like that. I can't stand that company.

LOL. We've discussed it in the thread for which Miramax films went to Lionsgate and Echo Bridge. Obviously, they're pretty much taking what they get. Because we now have Equilibrium and The Lookout in their original aspect ratios. We can easily say the same thing about Lionsgate's releases of 54, Reindeer Games, Scary Movie 2, and 40 Days and 40 Nights.

Since my ext. BD-Rom drive is dead, I can't go in and analyze the disc. Given how the From Dusk Till Dawn disc was, it's most likely the encodes are the same on The Prophecy 4 & 5. The Prophecy 1 & 3 are probably somewhat compressed down.

I came across something interesting today at Walmart. Echo Bridge has given the 4-film Prophecy collection two different covers. I held both of them in my hands and compared them. They appear to be the same sets, but one has the cover divided up into 4 squares with a mini-section for each film. The other one has the same picture as this site shows.

Perhaps it was an aberration, but my BB combo Prophecy 4/5 had a short video glitch on one of the films that was so distracting that I had to go back and watch it several times to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. I didn't notice it on the Collection pack. BTW, I found both 4 & 5 to be quite entertaining junk.

[QUOTE=OrlandoEastwood;6000721]What time did this occur at? I'll check on my Blu-ray player. I watched the set on my PS3 since I was still recovering at the time I got it.
Sorry, but after watching the 4/5 combo and the collection, it'll take a while before my masochism rises to the requisite level. If you watched the combo and didn't notice it, then it's probable that I have a bad disc, because it was readily apparent - the whole picture fuzzed out. |

I doubt Film Yard has paid for even one transfer. They don't care about quality... just look at the company they gave half their library to. It's all about trying to make their money back, which you can hardly fault them for trying to do.... but you'll make less money if people don't want to buy your films
