Looks like BD-50 is going to be hitting in a big way... And Pearl Harbor is BD-50 just like I expected. Release dates thread updated accordingly.

It only gets better and better. Add this to the WTC movie being a two disc set, one BD-50 with the movie and another with extras, and we're living in a land of science fiction.

Enemy of the State was on a 50/50 list, but now it's a purchase. Anyone know if the PH set is matching the DVD release for extras?

First I see that Unforgiven will be 50gb...now this news.

50gb release numbers are far beyond my expectations for 06

Now if they could edit about 1/2 hour of dreck from Pearl Harbor

It's amazing how much money I'm going to be losing in the last two months of this year at the rate this is going.

BHunt from TheDigitalBits or is it HighDefDigest said that PH matches the 2-disc set instead of the 3-disc one.

If only BVE HV would release Season boxsets of Lost and Alias...

I was practically banned from the HTF back in August for saying BD50 was in production and would be available in October.

Amir (Microsoft) on AVSF said BD50 was "science fiction" and that MPEG2 could not (in no certain terms) look as good as VC-1.

Sigh.

Guess it looks like I won't be watching the other disc though.

Why not? It's not like it's hard to swap discs anyway.

For newer optical technology (such as Blu-ray and HD-DVD), I would prefer everything to be in one disc. Thus my comment on me skipping the extras for this disc. Hoping a Monty Python release for Blu-ray (if ever) would be on one disc (and not on two like the Holy-Grail special ed. DVD)

That's just me though.

Hmm I like the 2 disc format for extras myself, maximising bitrate for the main feature.

A BD50 for a feature only is way overkill.

Yes, I would love to get away from the multi-disc thing myself. Especially if it just a marketing thing to imply additional "value" by having more discs. Give me one disc with everything! Looking forward to TV sets with 1 or two discs That's gonna be a huge advantage.
