Default Get Ready Sony... PS3's are now wanted!

I imagine PS3's are going to start flying off the shelves now. I've already seen some postings on "unnamed" sites where HD-DVD only folks are announcing they just bought or are going to buy PS3's.

Get ready Sony!

I agree but i'm affraid Sony's paltry forecast of 3 Million units for 2008 is WAY too low. I think the PS3 will continue to sell above 300 000 on slow months and upwards of 500 000 on months with big exclusive releases... that is until the next inevitable price drop next fall. I believe, just in Q4 2008 alone, the PS3 will sell 3 million units. I would say 6-7 million units for 2008 sounds more like it.

While 3 Million units is a good number, I also imagine they will sell far more than this. They just want to make it seem like way more sell than anticipated.

The Blu-ray control for the PS3 is equally popular. Just check out the amazon sales rankings for video games.

I forgot the old business addage: Underpromise --> Overdeliver

I just hope they don't get caught with their pants down like Nintendo did as it concerns supply.

Strange. I went to Target before work this morning and noticed all the PS3 had been sold. I have never seen the case empty since last Christmas. They had always had a few in there. But this morning, none.

Just because us as techno-saavy folks might be secure in our jobs and have some disposable income, it won't be that way for a lot of people in the US

The economy is in the dumper and a fly farts on a pipeline in Uganda and oil jumps to $100+ a barrell

Sony is being conservative, I don't blame them. They have to assume the worse case scenario of the economy, regardless of which studio does what backing Blu or DUD.

They pay research firms to figure this stuff out. In the past ~16 months, anyone looking to get a blu-ray/next gen console, was getting it. Now they are working on converting the PS2 and unhappy 360 owners to pick-up PS3 AND marketing the PS3 as the do-it-all multimedia box.

As the HOT games come, the units will start selling more and more. Don't worry, lack of being truly the "next gen" will have the Wii and 360 slipping soon.

We have Kojima and Square-Enix.

In this console war, they are like Warners in the format war.
They're pretty big.

Only thing is, I don't think 360 fans like FF or MGS anyway, well at least not most of 360 fan boys.

I bought a stand alone, but the minute a firmware update adds DTS HD MA support, I'm all over an 80Gb PS3 (why 80? I want the extra ports, and SACD playback!)

It must be my recommendation on Amazon which did the trick. LOL!!!

This is wild it looks like the average person is finding out about the WB news. Watch the Planet Earth rating on HD-DVD its usually bought by new owners that is the true sign of the sinking rat-infested ship. (The rats being the companies not the HD-DVD owners.)

Well, I have been waiting to get a PS3 for almost two years now. At the beginning, I wanted to get both formats at first. The BD players at the time were over 1000 dollars and the PS3 was 700. My wait was finally over when I went to Best Buy on January first and picked up a 40gig for 379 Canadian. This was a week before the WB announcement. What timing eh?

I agree with the PS3 sales being huge. Every time I was in the store, at least three people were at the checkout with PS3 machines in their hands. Two other people were in the line up with me when I bought mine.

I'm going to use it mainly as a movie player. I have a PSP with over 160 games, so I got that part covered. I can't wait to download some PS1 games on it.

The PS3 have been the best thing, that I have put my money in for a loooong time.

Me and my girlfriend are using it almost every day ... for movies or games.

I totally agree on this one. They are bigger than the console itself.

Because the can not have it.
Look how they do not like Uncharted. I have spoken to many who has both PS3 and x360. They totally loved Uncharted, but x360 fanboys will never come out and say a good word about the game. So better to ignore them.
