Request to be a moderator

Hi,

I would like to sign up as a moderator so I can change my username whenever, and whatever I want freely without needing to bother any of the (other) moderators or admins to do so, please.

This will solve my issue thread about changing username...so what better way than giving me the ability to just change my name, whenever and to whatever I want?

You only have 27 posts. Can't you just delete your account and start over with a new name?

...apparently that would be a violation of the forums rules and the 2nd account would be deleted as well....

That was me. In the past I saw someone start a thread like this and they made him a Moderator.

He had a different reason for wanting to be a Moderator, and a lot more posts I think, so that might make a difference. But they definitely didn't ban him.

Personally, I would guess that you would have a better chance of just getting a user name change, rather than becoming a moderator. But that's just my guess, and I absolutely do not in any way have any proof for that, just my opinion.

The only reason you want to be a moderator is so you can change your username whenever you want?! I don't think that's a good reason to become a moderator. Not to mention, there are several posters here far more qualified and have much better reasons for wanting to assume the position.

With that said, your username is a catastrophe - I don't envy you having to login with something so unwieldy. Putting aside the fact that you unwisely chose the name in the first place, I really hope for your sake that this is the one time the moderators make an exception and let you change it.

If you do get to change it, please - for the love of Arnold - don't go with something like Ultra_HD>BD>DVD_Coz_4K.

Admin are the only ones that have the power to change user names. Mods don't even have that power. Second, admin will not change a user name unless you have a very good reason. Also as far as becoming a mod the site admin and the other mods usually discuss the need for any new mods.

What are moderators and administrators?

Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other actions. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating.

Administrators are the people who have overall control of everything that happens on the board. They oversee how the board is styled, what forums to create and how to organize them, what information to require from members and who to appoint as moderators.

Oh ah, so I was fed incorrect information then; I should be signing up for an administrator, not a moderator!

Ok, how do I become an admin? What's the procedures and polices on that?

Usually long-time members who have been contributing positively to the site and liked/approved by other members/moderators are chosen as moderators
In this case I'm afraid you haven't been a member long enough, but I can see the problem with your username with special characters. What username would you like instead?

I've never been an administrator anywhere, the highest I've ever gotten is super mod on a Lindsay Lohan forum of all places.

I got to admin rank at one point on a forum for being quite active and helpful(...although I did kinda ask for it instead of it being randomly given to me out of the blue, was a mod before that but decided I wanted to be promoted to admin status....just coz I like the sound of being one....and that you would get more respect as one as well, at least moreso than a mod which itself is still more than just a standard user), never really visited the forum much as I was at school and didn't really have much time to spend on it due to studies, assessments and shit; so I guess I must have gotten stripped of my rank and demoted to standard user when I logged on after a while....and now that forum is gone, poof....404....

I'm guessing I'll need to login as the new username once that comes to affect yes? Or would have to login with old username but username is displayed with the new one?
