Figured I would put up a list of films that I would enjoy getting a Blu-Ray Release (or hell, a DVD release would be nice) for films which aren't released anywhere on DVD/Blu-Ray in the world. Instead, they're stuck on VHS.
I mean, if stuff like The Garbage Pail Kids Movie can get a special edition Blu-Ray? Then (in my opinion) these movies do not deserve to disappear through 'the sands of time' one day cause they're stuck only on VHS. You can feel free to list yours as well. For me? 1. Two underrated Jeff Speakman (the star of The Perfect Weapon) flicks: *Deadly Outbreak - a very fun 'Die Hard type' of flick with tons of action, fisticuffs, chases, gun fights, and even features Speaking shooting a bad guy in the balls and saying 'Guess you forgot your bulletproof cup'. The film deserves a DVD/Blu-Ray for that line alone. C'mon now! *Street Knight - Speakman's follow up to The Perfect Weapon and one of the last Cannon Films releases. 2. Blue Monkey (1987) starring Steve Railsback. A fun creature feature flick with some nice 'big bug/insect' monster FX, some cool 'blue lighting', and decent bits of the cast (Railsback, John Vernon, and more). 3. Murder By Phone (aka Bells) - a 1982 flick in which a disgruntled phone company employee develops a device whereby those answering a phone can be murdered. It's a ridiculous concept but it's a fun time. People's eyes bleed, their glasses explode, one gets pushed so far back that they get pushed through a window & off a building, and more. And I thought Richard Chamberlain pulled off one of his better performances in this flick. 4. Night Life aka Grave Misdemeanors - Scott Grimes (the kid from Critters 1 & 2) works at a morgue with his uncle. When his bullies end up dying one day in a car crash (and some 'weird chemical' is in the air), the bullies come back as zombies to hunt Scott Grimes and his new girlfriend. Another underrated gem, in my opinion. 5. Deep Space (1988). To me one of Fred Olen Ray's better movies starring the late Charles Napier. It has a creature which is a straight rip-off of the Xenomorph from Alien (only with some horns on it)...but I can't help but love a flick where the hero cuts the alien's head off with a chainsaw. 6. Rad - Thunder in Your Heart Greatness. More than likely it's the soundtrack as to reason why this is stuck on VHS. Which sucks, cause it's an entertainign flick. 7. The Special Longer Version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture - this is a bit of a cheat since the film is on DVD & Blu-Ray...but NOT the 'Special Longer Version' Cut. It's my favorite version and the one I grew up watching the most. I honestly would have preferred that getting a DVD over the 'Director's Cut'. But as of right now, it's only stuck on VHS. I'm sure there's more but I'll leave room for anyone who wants to list some. |
