Some of these are not remakes.

TMNT '14 is not a remake of 1990. It's just another TMNT movie. Dredd is not a remake of the Stallone movie and Silence of the Lambs is based on a book.

I'd have to think about my picks. Some of the more popular ones I have not seen.

I agree with the usual ones listed here. The common theme is that the remake is almost always infinitely better than the original in each case. Compare that to some recent remakes which do not fall into this category. So, this proves that there is a time and a place for remakes. And then, sometimes there isn’t.
