Default ABC's Fresh Off The Boat

Anybody catch the premiere?

I thought it was pretty good. Loved the Lunchables bit. Jessica is hilarious and they make great use of hip-hop music of the time.

It got decent ratings for the first two episodes, but they aired during Wednesday night family block alongside Modern Family. It's moving to Tuesday nights where the under-appreciated Selfie died, so hopefully it can survive.

I didn't find it to be all that funny. It really pales in comparison to The Goldbergs. But to be fair, I wasn't all that high on The Goldbergs after the first couple of episodes either, and now I love it (The Goonies episode being one of my favorite episodes on TV in years).

I was hoping to like it more since my gf is Asian, but so far I am not impressed. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it grows on me.

It was awful.
So not funny.

Who is there to like on this show?
Not the mom.
Not the two other kids, one of which they call Emily.
Not the Dad, who looks like he had a stroke with the weird eyebrow being stuck up higher on one side all the time.

Definitely not the older son.
He's just a little punk.

The rap music thing is done better on the Goldbergs because
it plays as more of a gag then it does here.

Plus the rap music is bad.

The show simply wasn't funny.

I thought it was just okay, like others have said not as good as the Goldbergs.

I'll probably give it another couple of episodes to see how it shakes out. The only bright spot for me is that the mom is hot!

I thought the show was decent but nothing great. Currently DirecTV and my ABC affiliate are in a standoff over carriage fees so I haven't had ABC for the last few weeks and who knows when it will end but I didn't like the show enough to make any effort to catch future episodes. Maybe if it gets renewed (unlikely with it's Tuesday time slot) I'll catch up on it over the summer.

I don't care. I loved the first 2 eps. I laughed my ass off. I'm worried about the ratings though, 7 million for the premiere which will most likely drop. those ratings would get a renewal on nbc but not abc

I didn't think the first two episodes were super great or anything, but I still thought they were pretty good.... surely not awful.

But I thought the next two episodes from this week were much stronger and more funny. I think this show has a lot of potential.

I don't think you can compare a show from the creator of Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23 to The Goldbergs. One is going to be far edgier than the other.

Fresh Off the Boat got a 1.9 rating last night, the same as it got last week. Maintaining it's rating was impressive because it was going against much steeper competition in The Voice (although the CW had a repeat of The Flash). It seems like this will be a keeper.

I'm curious what ABC will pair up with it next season. I could see ABC moving The Middle to Tuesday, moving The Goldbergs to The Middle's current slot opening Wednesday nights, and then either debuting a new show after The Goldbergs or moving Blackish after The Goldbergs and debuting a new show after Modern Family.

This show is HILARIOUS. Last nights episode was the funniest this season with Jessica's prostitute comment to The female realtor.

Definitely my second favorite TV comedy after The Mindy Project.

Started watching this yesterday through Hulu.
Saw 2 episodes, my god what have I been missing. Great show, very funny, likeable characters, the music!
Great show so far.

Yeah, and considering that the fall comedies on ABC on Tuesday night tanked, FOTB is really doing quite well. If it were moved to Wednesday, it would definitely get to go for a few seasons.

I like the mom, because she is hot.

Joking aside I really enjoy the show.

I've been watching this from day 1 and like it very much. I find it very pleasant and the wife and husband have good chemistry as do the sons and the neighbors. The wife is the stand out character.

Been binging this on Hulu, in deep season 3 now. Quite a fantastic show so far, mainly due to the gorgeous Constance Wu.

She was the main draw for me to see Crazy Rich Asians. It's a shame that she was pretty bland in that movie and didn't get to exercise any comedic chops. Never thought I'd say that Awkwafina completely overshadowed her (in a limited role no less). Of course, until Ocean's 8, I had never heard of Awkwafina.
