Germany Scar 3D Blu-ray (2007)[Region B Locked / Cut in Germany / Uncut in Austria]

I know some people were looking for this. It looks like a limited run of 1,500 so don't wait. If anyone finds it for under $30 shipped to USA let me know.

Many many thanks for the heads up. It's annoying that it's not on Amazon.de given that they do carry the uncut 2D version, but hey ho, I gave Medienhandel.at a go, this is a release I don't want to let get away, the 3D is STRONG with this one...

It's 20 Euros but shipping is 27 Euros making it $50 shipped to the US. Shipping seems flat so I am trying to figure out what else I should buy.

Medienhandel looks like the same site but they remove the 20% tax so it's cheaper. They also have the same 27 Euro shipping charge.

I'd go in on a group buy from Medienhandel; as mentioned above they'll take off the VAT. If we can get 5 or 6 people, the shipping could be brought down to tolerable levels.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of but I thought I would check.

I haven't the movie before. Is it worth tracking down the uncut version?

90 min vs 76 min. The 13thman has a review here for the cut version. Sounds like someone butchered an already bad movie.

This is one of my most awaited deliveries, I pray it arrives safely soon.

The film itself is a horror that descends a little into what some disparagingly call "torture porn" (which simply means that at least one character enjoys inflicting pain, there's no porn in the film) so not something to watch with mother. It's not a great film either, or an expensive looking one. I watched it once in 2D and it barely registered. I just remember thinking that the colour was all washed out. I couldn't bear to watch the anaglyph 3D version that I picked up on DVD.

What Scar is though, is a 3D movie that was made at the very beginning of the recent 3D revival. When strong 3D and pop-outs weren't seen as something to avoid. I loved the use of 3D in the cut version, but I did not love the cuts so I'm super glad NSM have put it out uncut. I'm sure it will be quite memorable given that all the 'best bits' (from a horror film fan's perspective) were cut.

The Legend Of Bloody Mary is another one that's even more butchered, if only they could release that uncut in 3D too...

My copy of Scar 3D arrived today, I will be watching it shortly, I've waited years to see it uncut in real 3D.

I have to say that Medienhandel really went to town on the packaging, it's only a slimline blu ray case but they put it in a chunky cardboard box and then for good measure put that in another chunky cardboard box. I certainly got my money's worth for the postage!

They should at €27 for a single item. Did you order anything else?

No, but I didn't pay that much postage to the UK.

I would have though, if I had to, I love this film in 3D. It doesn't really throw anything in your face but instead brings the film out of the screen naturally so it's all so much more immersive.

Yes, the 84 minute version definitely looks uncut, while the 76 minute version gives you all the story but absolutely none of the nasty stuff, the finale plays out like highlights.

Cut 76m version (which has a reversible sleeve without the big red 18):

Uncut 84m version (which has a reversible sleeve without the 3D + 2D banner):

Proving that it was designed for 3D, this was released on DVD with a shorter runtime for the 2D version (79 minutes PAL) compared to the 3D version (81 minutes PAL). I assume that it's that longer version which was cut down to 76 minutes for the FSK 18 German edition and is uncut on the NSM release.

I'm planning to order this from Medienhandel in the next couple days. However, since nobody seems interested in getting a group buy together I want to order a few titles along with it in order to make the ridiculous flat shipping fee to North America seem a bit more reasonable.

To that end, I'm hoping some members here can perhaps recommend a few other good, exclusive (not available in North Amerca) 3-D titles that are available from Medienhandel. Austrian, German, UK, whatever... as long as Medienhandel stocks it.

Try the Austrian Blu-ray 3D of Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, if they have it. I read that it's region free somewhere, but you may have to research to confirm that.
