Didn't buy it but $33.50 seems a bit steep for a BD-r copy of a movie

Never seen Day of the Reaper, but I've seen a lot of Tim Ritter's other stuff, including Truth or Dare? A Critical Madness, which is Elijah Wood's favorite horror film of all time. Ritter specializes in sleazy no-budget slasher movies that nobody will ever mistake for great cinema, but they have their charms. His early films were among the first to be produced for the '80s direct-to-video horror market, so they're important in that respect at least and are interesting time capsules from that era.

Close to pulling the trigger on Reaper, but the price is kinda high for my blood. Love the cover art.

I ordered one. Tim Ritter's Killing Spree is one of my favorite movies (seriously), and I'm dying to see this. Even though it is a BD-R, it will have pro labels and artwork.

The guy who runs SRS is super cool. He went out of his way to get me a copy of the Killing Spree VHS/DVD Combo a couple years back.

jthefrank, nope it doesn't look like it's in the database yet...

I've never met a slasher I didn't like so I bit the bullet!

Agreed. Cool company all around.

I hope SRS begins releasing more Blu-rays in the near future. A few of their catalog titles I still have on VHS and DVD I'd like to upgrade (Shatter Dead, Sixteen Tongues, Strawberry Estates), even though I realize some of them were shot on standard-def video.

Thanks for posting a slasher this obscure and limited is a must have for me. Early Christmas present to myself it is.

That cover makes it look a lot better than it is. It was shot on Super 8 and looks like a home movie made in someone's backyard for nothing. 7.4 on IMDb is obviously from the people who made it.

It kinda is a home movie shot in someone's backyard. And the blurb on the case doesn't try to hide that, clearly stating that it was shot on Super-8, atrociously post-dubbed, and made by a H.G. Lewis-inspired high-school kid in the early '80s who had passion but little else. Honorably up-front about all that.

I doubt it. Some horror fans do genuinely enjoy it.

Even Tim Ritter himself has openly mocked Day of the Reaper, so I'm sure he's not behind the high ratings on IMDb and would be very amused.

Being that this is a BD-R, what is stopping someone from just buying one copy and then making more copies and selling them themselves?

I'm letting this one pass me by.

Since I've never actually seen Day of the Reaper before, I'd feel lame for taking one of only 100 limited edition copies, instead of letting an honest-to-goodness fan of the movie buy it instead.

I mean, I've blind-bought Twilight Time discs before, but those are limited editions of 3,000.
