This has come round fast. It's an odd awards season this year, a lot of the big contenders have sort of faded into the background. Wouldn't be surprised if this is where Disney plants it's major Black Panther efforts.

Despite being campaigned in the Supporting Actress category, Natalie Portman's performance in Vox Lux will be considered in the Lead Actress category by the HFPA.

Both from the trailer and film description sounds to me like a role along the lines of Dev Petel (for both Slumdog Millionaire and Lion where he was campaigned supporting). As long as the older character makes up at least half the running time, I tend to view those as lead performances, so good for the Globes on doing that.

I had to google to see who “Sandra Ho” is, but I see it’s Sandra Oh.

Kind of an odd random choice, but it should be better than James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting the Oscars at least.
