I voted for The Hobbit. That does not mean I think it's a fantastic series of movies. LOTR, for its minor flaws, beats the pants off it. It just means I liked it better than what I saw of The Rings of Power... a pretty low bar because I'm not really invested in any of the characters and the many, many plots are kind of blah and overly stuffed (they should have streamlined the show for being a limited series). At least we had Martin Freeman's Bilbo and Benedict Cumberbatch's Smaug (hey, the game's afoot... I see the bit of stunt casting they did there!).

The Hobbit. Both are still soulless cash-ins.

RoP doesn't have much Tolkien in it (barely any, tbh), but at least it's not as bloated and thus exhausting as The Hobbit. There are some "book edits" of the Hobbit trilogy, that I will take over RoP, but not theatrical and especially extended. Hobbit is absolute pain to get through.
