Sure didn't take long for this thread to turn all nasty. Geez.
But, OT, I agree with the OP. This is a favorite of mine and I'd buy a BD the minute it was available. Especially if the original ending was included as a bonus feature. - Nerak |

With your attitude, there are other members on here that obviously have a better idea of where you should put it.
![]() Anyway, this film deserves a blu-ray release, and it would be nice if by some miracle a director's cut would finally be put together, where the original ending was re-edited into the film instead of that dreadful remade ending for the theatrical release. That was the director's wish. ![]() |

I'm guessing The Watcher in the Woods will get a bare bones DMC release next year for its 40th anniversary.
I'll pick it up, but I'm still hanging onto my Anchor Bay DVD. ![]() |

I really, really hope this gets a Blu release. This was a landmark movie for me in my childhood. I rented it in the mid-'90s when I was a kid, and it absolutely mortified me. I slept on my parents' floor for a week. I still go back and watch it every year or so just because I have so many fond memories tied to it; I rented it throughout my childhood after getting over that initial shock, and grew to love it. It's just so atmospheric, and the visuals are one of a kind.
The Anchor Bay DVD is very good and still stands the test of time; I also own the Disney DVD, which is missing a couple features that the AB release has. I don't know if the transfer is any different—I'm guessing not. I would love to see an HD transfer of the film just because it is so visually unique. It'd also be nice to hear from the people involved, especially the older ones, if they'd be willing to do interviews for it. Carroll Baker, David McCallum, and the director John Hough are not going to be around much longer. |

Benedict Taylor, who played Mike in the original, ended up playing John Keller in the 2017 remake with Anjelica Huston. I bet he'd be down for an interview.

First off, sorry for getting anyone's hopes up for any new news. There is none.
The movie just celebrated the 40th anniversary of its original theatrical release last week and Bloody Disgusting posted an editorial about it. It's nothing most of us don't already know, but wanted to share it at any rate. Still hoping for (at the very least) a bare bones DMC release this year. https://bloody-disgusting.com/editor...oods-turns-40/ |
