How am I supposed to run it through my surround sound? That was dumb by PS

Surround audio through HDMI only, very stupid indeed. Cost saving they call this, like their new phones without headphones audio jack..

Well my receiver doesn't have HDMI. I know its old, but it still works. I guess its tv sound for my PS4. uggg

Can't you run the sound from your TV with its Toshlink connection?

He’s asking if you can connect the PS4 to the tv with HDMI and then do audio out from the tv with toslink (optical) to your receiver.

Yes, sorry the digital optical is a Toshlink cable (as it was designed by Toshiba). See if your TV has a digital optical output.

Optical cables are pretty much obsolete at this point. It's amazing they lasted this long since their development in home audio from the 80's. ( I mean at some point they had to get rid of the composite AV outputs on the Sony Playstation consoles & use more modern technology...this is no different)
