Default What decade are most of your Blu-ray movies from?

I'm talking about the original year the movie came out in theaters or on TV (the production year)... not the Blu-ray release year.

Going by my Blu-ray "My Collection" app, out of the 182 movies/TV shows I own, most were released originally in the 1950s. This makes sense as I'm a huge classic movies/TCM fan.

My second most decade is the 1940s.

Least decade turns out to be the 1970s.

How about your collection?

2010, 27%
2000, 23%
1980, 21.8%
1990, 19.5%

A few blips in the other decades, mostly caused by Disney canon titles. When you look at my DVD collection, the distribution flips to

2000, 38.2%
1990, 25%
1980, 18.4%
2010, 10.5%

2010 drops probably because fewer titles are DVD only. But 90s, I do like my 90s...

Here's my collection breakdown by decade...

2010s - 5.8%
2000s - 4.3%
1990s - 5.0%
1980s - 24.0%
1970s - 20.4%
1960s - 15.6%
1950s - 12.3%
1940s - 7.6%
1930s - 3.2%
1920s - 1.4%
1910s - 0.1%
1900s - 0.0%

1980s for the win. I was born in 1972, so most of the 1980s flicks hit the sweet spot in terms of wistful nostalgia.

I do own one 1900s film, A Trip to the Moon (1902), but that one title doesn't leave enough of a statistical mark, so that decade still has 0.0% of my collection overall.

The 70's and 90's are at the top for me with 16.7% each. The 80's come in 3rd with 15.8%. That makes sense because I was born in the late 70's, became a 'proper' cinephile in around 92/93, and grew up watching popular 70's and 80's films in between.

1980's with 33.1% and that is probably going to increase since most of my unwatched stuff I haven't added to the site yet is mostly from the 80's
