Default Non-4K Blu-rays that rival your 4K Blu-rays

I thought I would start a thread for 4K UHD users who still occasionally buy and watch standard blurays, and at times still get wowed by solid 1080p on bluray, rivaling even some of our favorite titles on UHD.
Name some of most memorable non-4K titles that you remember.

For me it would be:
Crimson Peak
A Cure for Wellness
Under The Skin (German edition)

I posted this in another thread but I was watching The Wizard of Oz a while back with my son and the colors were so good it rivaled some of the best UHD transfers I've seen. Good 'ol 3 strip Technicolor, still looking great 80 years later.

The remastered Patton BD looks amazing, so much so that I question how much better a UHD version could actually look. Regardless, I hope to find out! After 2001 and Lawrence of Arabia my most wanted classic film on UHD.

It's fun to see which Blus hold up well playing on 4k gear; surprisingly many do. Through an LG C8 and Oppo 205, for the record.

I started watching Blue Planet II with my mate the other weekend and thought it looked stunning.

Turned out I'd put the blu-ray disc in by mistake.

My mate could tell it wasn't the UHD disc, but I couldn't tell the difference.

Rogue One and Avatar are really solid blurays.

Ender's Game looks great on blu, and is the only way to watch this since the 4k is so skewed.

Ant man also has an amazing transfer.

It will be interesting to see if these can be improved on much.

On a non-piss-taking note, the BD remaster of Volcano looks absolutely fackin' lovely. And Aliens on BD is still one of the bestest things I've ever seen, regardless of format.

I realised that most regular bd rival the uhd version in terms of resolution/detail...as long as they were made from the same master source. The only UHD disk i have that leaves the bd in the dust is "Dunkirk".That's because about 70% of the shots come from an imax 70mm source and therefore one of the very few TRUE 4k DI's. The funny thing is that the 35mm(black bar) shots look sharper on the regular bd as those were DNR-ed on the uhd version.
Scrolling and viewing frame comparisons from caps-a-holic made me realise that all the 35mm movies and most of the digitally shot movies we have today don't really deliver any perceiveable extra detail beyond what the full HD resolution can offer.
So, 4k discs are worth buying today only for HDR and for some great new resorations / remasters ..like in the Matrix and Blade Runner cases.

The "black bar" scenes in Dunkirk were shot on 65mm, not 35mm, and they're not "DNR-ed" on the UHD version.

I originally posted in the UHD because it was addressed to UHD users who mostly only buy UHDs these days. The BD thread is frequented mostly by BD-only users with no means of comparing their BDs to UHDs
