I like this 3/5 Pacino thriller. Much less daring than the mad stuff he was doing a decade earlier (Cruising) but… much more enjoyable.

What are the chances the extended cut of Sea of Love will be included, Kino? It was officially released on VHS and never again.
Also, there's two different trailers. Hopefully both will be included. Last edited by IndyMLVC; 07-31-2023 at 12:27 PM. |

There's a lot of potential here. Nice cinematography, beautiful grain quality, and it's set against the backdrop of NYC. Not sure what's wrong with the opening reel, but a scan from the OCN sounds promising.

not to be a hater, but when i think of this movie i think boooooo.
an erotic thriller without any of the eroticism. it really feels so tame with the stuff that came out immediately after. like it could have been made for tv, but with name actors. cinematography always felt kind of flat and uninventive. (very tv like) maybe it just came out too early. i don’t know that it is necessarily a bad movie, but a severely underwhelming one. although, maybe that has to do with unrealistic expectations. still think it is worth checking out once. but it doesn’t have any of the magic or charge of stuff that came chasing the success of basic instinct. |

Watched this again a while back and it's still an entertaining thriller, driven by the camaraderie between Pacino and Goodman and with a good performance by Ellen Barkin.
Can't be anything but an upgrade on the Blu-ray, which has a not great transfer. |
