Season 1
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Mugen Train movie was a sequel to the TV series. ![]() ![]() They later took the movie and turned it into an extended edition TV cut (mainly a prequel episode) as the first half of "season 2". ![]() ![]() The second part of season 2 is called the Entertainment District Arc. ![]() ![]() The third season is The Swordsmith Village Arc and currently no English-friendly Blu-rays have been announced for it, but likely will be soon. The fourth season, the Hashira Training Arc begins airing in April, we're a ways away from any Blu-rays of that. I posted both the regular and Limited Editions. The regular editions are much cheaper, but lack video extras. The Limited Editions are more expensive, and have video extras. The LEs are exclusive to the Crunchyroll Store now following the closure of Right Stuf Anime in October 2023. If you're at all wondering, the "To the Hashira Training movie" in theaters right now is just the final episode of season 3, and an early preview of the first episode of season 4 airing in April. They did something similar last year with "To the Swordsmith Village" with the final 2 episodes of season 2, and an early preview of the first season of season 3 before it began airing in April 2023. |

The Mugen Train movie was released first in theaters, was a huge hit in Japan breaking all sorts of box office records for them, and was released after season 1 and before season 2 were. But then when season 2 came out, they took the train movie and split it up into individual episodes so it could be considered as part of season 2. And I'm not sure if season 2 added or changed any actual animation of the original movie, but they did create a whole new prequel episode that plays first and specifically ties into the movie to kinda better flesh out a main character that features in it.
So, honestly, you can get season 1 and season 2 and not have to worry about the Mugen Train movie at all since it's in season 2 with the newly made prequel episode included already. And it should be said that if you want to buy the collector's edition sets, the first two released (season 1 part 1 and season 1 part 2) were put in a bluray sized box while everything afterwards (Mugen Train movie, Season 2 p1 and p2, and more than likely season 3 and onward) were put in a dvd sized box. So, nothing will match on your shelf size wise if that matters. I personally bought the limited season 1 releases, got mad that they changed the size for everything else afterwards, and just bought the regular (and also much cheaper) bluray releases for season 2 and was perfectly happy. But for home theatre sake, I'd say the Mugen Train movie is still worthwhile to get considering it has a dedicated 5.1 surround sound track. Not to knock down the LPCM 2.0 though - I heard that for what it is, it is still satisfyingly robust.

And is the "To the Hashira Training Movie" and any other ones available for North America Blu-Ray? I'm only seeing Mugen Train so far. |
