Vinegar Syndrome just announced The Incredible Shrinking Man 4K UHD release:
![]() https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collecti...le-melting-man This special limited edition embossed and spot gloss slipcover (designed by Chris Barnes) is limited to 6,000 units and is only available here at VinegarSyndrome.com! While on the first-ever voyage to the rings of Saturn, an unexplained phenomenon takes hold of astronaut Steve West and his crew, burning all but Steve to a crisp. Somehow able to return to Earth, Steve awakens in a hospital bed, only to discover that his body is disintegrating. Worse, he begins to develop an instinctual urge to kill, learning that this is the only way to maintain his strength. After escaping from the hospital, Steve begins to ravage the nearby countryside; brutally murdering all who cross his path, and leaving behind a series of mangled bodies covered in his dripping flesh… A legendary drive-in favorite and showcase for some of special effects genius Rick Baker’s earliest work, William Sachs’ THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN offers an oozing 70s tribute to 1950s sci-fi cinema. Featuring veteran TV stars Burr DeBenning and Michael Alldredge, along with cult actress Cheryl Smith (Lemora, Fantasm Comes Again), a rare performance from director Jonathan Demme, and starring Alex Rebar as Steve West - The Melting Man, Vinegar Syndrome is proud to bring this quintessential cult classic to UHD and Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative! directed by: William Sachs starring: Alex Rebar, Burr DeBenning, Michael Alldredge, Myron Healey, Cheryl Smith, Jonathan Demme 1977 / 86 min / 1.85:1 / English Mono Additional info: 4K Ultra HD / Region A Blu-ray Set 4K UHD presented in High-Dynamic-Range Newly scanned & restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative Commentary track with writer/director William Sachs "It's a War" (31min) - a brand new interview with William Sachs "Just Show Up" (15min) - a brand new interview with script supervisor Sandy King Interview featurette with William Sachs and special effects artist Rick Baker Interview with special effects artist Greg Cannom Original theatrical trailer Still gallery Reversible cover artwork English SDH subtitles Last edited by BunyipPouch; 08-01-2022 at 04:19 PM. |

Pretty slow film with a few fun moments. I'd love to see the deleted scenes but they were probably lost years ago.

I've always had a soft spot for the one. The makeup effects are amazing even now. It does move slowly, and it has some unintentionally hilarious moments. MST3K covered this one in their original run and it was a good episode. I might have to pick this one up. That cover art is great.

"Melting Man" in 4k? Having seen the previous Blu Ray has me thinking this newly created remaster will be stunning in 4K! This is a guilty pleasure, but it was one of the first horror titles I got excited to see as a young impressionable moviegoer who had just seen Rick Baker's work on the cantina scene in "Star Wars" and loved his monkey suit /performance in the 1976 version of "King Kong"!

![]() Lots of complaints about the film being dull; Personally I never found it dull. I thought the story was engaging enough to hold my interest but then I don't like films where everything is happening at lightning speed unless it's something like Crank ![]() |
