Lightbulb Two XMB Icons: Dead Space (demos) and Siren (making of)

Eager horror fans who just picked up Dead Space will find a couple extra goodies of the non-scary variety when they pop the disc into their system. At least on the PS3 version, you get two Blu-ray disc icons under the Game XMB -- one for Dead Space of course, but surprisingly also one for EA Demos (as seen above).
Included on the disc are demos for Battlefield: Bad Company and Burnout: Paradise. One of the interesting parts of this is that they are install packages not ready-to-go demos. This means you can install them off the disc and play them regardless of whether Dead Space is in your PS3.
At this time it is unknown if the Xbox 360 version has the demos as well (they take up an additional 1.2GB of space), but this would be an interesting way to utilize the extra space that Blu-ray discs provide.
Great use of Blu-ray, something all publishers should consider doing with left over BD capacity.

edit: missed a pun opportunity. There's no dead space on that Blu-ray Disc!

Nice, it's pretty awesome that many ps3 versions of games will have extras on it(i hope anyways).

Icons for extras could also appear under:

Photo
HD screenshots for other games, high-res artwork, themes and wallpapers.

Music
Clips from the game soundtrack, maybe with a link to the future PlayStation music store to buy the full track/album.

Video
Trailers, movie trailers for tie-ins like Resident Evil Degeneration on Resident Evil 5 (and vice versa on a movie's extras disc), making of's and all that stuff without having to launch the game which probably has an inferior video player.

Lots of ways they can improve the media experience on PS3 and potentially make some money without being intrusive while doing so.

Good stuff. Hope to see more like that in the future with multiplatform games (or even first party).

Hmm. Very clever use of extra space.

SIREN: Blood Curse also has an extra XMB icon, not for demos but the Blu-ray exclusive "Behind the Curtain of Terror" documentary under the Video category.

The default icon before the SIREN icon loads in.

SIREN icon loaded in.

List of the vidoc in English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. Premade game logo video-thumbnails.

The video specs are listed as 720p, AVC 14.1 to 15.3Mbps and AAC 128-160kbps depending on language and about 2GB each for a little over 20 minutes of footage so in total about 10GB for all 5 languages.

The videos play directly off the BD and there's no option to copy to the HDD.

IGN: What about games? Do you expect to see that with games as far as stuff like your LocoRocos or Patapons?

John Koller: You mean in terms of off a BD disc, a BD movie?

IGN: Yeah.

John Koller: Yeah, hybrid discs. [Maybe not a game?] but that's something that you can always have, great demos -- or the reverse. You could have games that have maybe a movie or a trailer attached to it on the disc. The space... [laughs] 50 gigs is a lot of space, so there's... Many games can accommodate that. Games like Resistance or Metal Gear which are bumping up on that top end may not have as much space, so it really depends, but the ability to have a Blu-ray hybrid disc is certainly available and I think we'll see some of that next year.

Wow is this JUST for the US version of Dead Space? I have the PAL version and I believe we don't have this on our copies!
