The Warner Archive release model was originally set up to release content on disc that wouldn’t do well commercially at a mass scale, hence their strategy of creating small batches of pressed discs. As the company seems to be doing more restorations in 4K from original and archival elements, what would the chances be of them using this model to simultaneously release 4K discs?
For example, I’m a huge fan of their Tex Avery collection. All of the shorts are meticulously restored in 4K. While I love the disc, I would love to own these restorations at their it full quality. Since they have already restored the shorts in 4K, it seems like this could be a reality if they just commissioned HDR passes on the shorts. They could charge a few extra dollars for the UHD disc and collectors could finally own the highest quality versions of these shorts technically possible. Thoughts? |
