Default Spielberg directing DC's Blackhawk

http://variety.com/2018/film/news/st...mpression=true

It'll be a while until it gets made since he's doing it after Indy 5 and West Side Story, but Amblin and WB are developing it for him.

Never heard of Blackhawk. Never thought Spielberg would want to make one of those. Whatever.

Exciting news! And certainly unexpected. I read some Blackhawk years ago and enjoyed it, and they had a great appearance on the Justice League series. Perfect property for Spielberg to tackle if he's going to do a comic book movie.

I wonder if it'll be a WWII period piece. Spielberg does love seeing Nazis mowed down in his adventure films.

Also, this film is at least five years away and third or fourth on Spielberg's to-do list (after Indiana Jones 5, West Side Story and maybe the Leonard Bernstein biopic).

I only believe a Spielberg project is real when filming begins.

He is another one tat seems to always be attaching himself to stuff that doesn’t come to fruition.

True. He announce new projects all the time, and drop 70% of them after a year. I’m still curious of his version of Insterstellar.

He may produce it, but I can almost guarantee he will not end up directing this film.

edit: I just noticed it's about the leader of an "elite group of pilots that fought in WWII" not a superhero like I assumed when I saw "DC".
Okay, so I give it a 10% chance he will end up directing.

...Also it's based on some comic from 1941, so I expect it to be as successful as The Phantom and The Shadow

Vaguely familiar with Blackhawk and always thought it could make a good movie, but I never thought studios would be into it. Spielberg showing an interest is all kinds of cool, even if he doesn't end up directing.

Does anyone remember Robopocalypse ? What ever happened to that project? I remember seeing the teaser poster for that like 4 years ago I think.

Excited about this! If done right, this could be the new Indy type movie for the new millennium. If this film actually happens, I hope it's a huge success so others can follow up with Sgt. Rock, The Unknown Soldier and even maybe The Haunted Tank. Then they can all come together in one movie. That would be a DC movie universe I could truly get behind.

Makes as much sense as Tommy Wiseau taking over the Avatar sequels.

But I thought superhero movies were going to go "the way of the western"?

It’s not a superhero movie. That’s like saying 300 is a superhero movie.

Why Steven Spielberg’s DCEU Film Blackhawk Should Include These Wonder Woman Characters

Not gonna lie, I forgot this movie was happening, let alone that Spielberg is still onboard.

Is Spielberg really still onboard though? That article is an opinion piece, no new update on the film status.

As far as has been reported he’s still onboard in some capacity, I don’t know if he’s directing. I think the article assumes he is but IIRC that was never confirmed.
