Under carpets/rugs - up against the line where the tile meets the floorboard - I guess making holes in walls is out of the question...hmm...

Speaker wires also tuck under the molding much easier than you would imagine.

You'll soon find the biggest problem with setting up surround sound in your apartment is your neighbors.

I have cable channels, they run along the wall just above my base boards, and they can be painted to match whatever. They are very low-key, so most people will not notice them. You can also get joints to connect many together, or go around corners: http://www.amazon.com/Wiremold-White...9975326&sr=8-1

They have an adhesive backing which sticks to the wall.

On the note of neighbors, I live on a third floor walk-up, and have never had a complaint (of which I know) in 1 year there w/ my Klipsch system. At first I kept it quiet, then I decided that I would get it loud until someone said something to me, which hasn't happened.

Very cool lead. I have some wires that won't fit under the base boards (to tight). That is what I love about this site. Great advice and leads. Though I did not start this thread, thank you for the info.

If you have carpet, then just push it under the moulding where it meets the carpet. It tucks back in there very easily and causes no damage to the wire or the wall.

I use plastic stick on cable guides we get from Home Depot. They have a cover that snaps on and you can run it along the wall near the floor. You can also get flat wire that tucks under carpet edge.

I know this might sound funny, but can you go OVER, instead of under? I had a buddy who very cleverly (and precisely) tacked flat speaker wire up the wall and over the ceiling to get to the rear channels. They painted it first to match the wall color, and because it ran next to a ceiling fan, you could barely notice.

Oddly enough, they did this because they had dogs that loved to chew on the wiring they previously ran along the baseboards.

RocketFish works in a pinch. You can pick it up for about $100 from BestBuy.

If you can't tuck them under carpet or molding, you can build a small chase with hardwood boards you can get at the Home Despot or similar. My stuff is against a concrete wall, so the big cables (three coax, one phone, two cat5 won't tuck under anything. I built a small chase out of wood to hide the wires. I have pictures in the HT pics thread.

You can alleviate this a lot by periodically dropping a case of beer off at the neighbors' place.

My yellow-nape has transected the wires to the speakers on the screened porch. I know how they feel.
