http://www.theasylum.cc/ The Asylum Home Entertainment Company produces extreme low-budget digital horrors written and directed by mostly first-time filmmakers and by the company's executives. Based in downtown Burbank, they have a lot chutzpuh, piggybacking home video titles like Snakes On a Train on the theatrical releases of studio productions like Snakes On a Plane, etc. Thus far, their only 3-D film is A Haunting In Salem (2010): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZOF48U?ie=UTF8&me= Although typical of The Asylum's product, A Haunting In Salem was shot with two Red Ones aligned by a beam splitter. While I'm not saying it's perfect, the 3-D is authentic and expertly done. The depth is deeper than most contemporary films. To get the most out of the haunted house story, it helps to turn the sound off and just watch the film for its depth. While searching for 3-D films on Euro amazon sites I came across another haunted house title by The Asylum released in anaglyph. So I emailed the company's Chief Operating Officer to ask if The Haunting of Winchester House were an authentic 3-D film and if it could be released that way domestically: Quote:
Since this email exchange, the film has been released on blu-ray by Echo Bridge, but not in 3-D. It is unusual for The Asylum not to release its own titles on home video. Let's everybody send an email to The Asylum requesting that The Haunting of Winchester House be released stateside in authentic 3-D for polarized viewing. If the 3-D is half as good as in their other film it will be worthwhile.
