Glad to see Imprint will be releasing their first 4K UHD and first steelbook. Happy 2nd anniversary Imprint!

Love the front artwork of the slipbox. Not too sure yet about the front artwork of the steelbook. I'll have to stare at it everyday for an hour for a while to see if it grows on me.

If they don't put the original mono on, they're crazy.

on photo - UHD looks exactly like US disc with all paramount presents branding - bet it'll be 1:1 as us.

Botched Paramount disc in a new container. Easy and hard pass.

Based on the info sheet, they are also putting all the same extras from the BLU on the 4K ???? They should keep those on the BLU except for the commentary. Let that 4K breath. (However if its just en expensive basic Paramount 4K, it’s just going to be an expense variant)

and no mention what so ever for original audio

IMPRINT makes lots of tech errors, has from the start and continues, by listing 2.0 Stereo when its really 2.0 Mono or stating something is mono when it its in fact 2.0 Stereo and so on. They have NOT yet nailed down getting those things correct. So for them to jump into 4K has me very hesitant.

Interesting, but it does indeed seem like they just get to release the same Paramount disc instead of doing their own thing with it. So no mono, as I initially hoped.

It's Imprint, they don't have the financial resources to create a completely new "fixed" release, you can bet your house that this will be a repackaged Paramount 4k disc in fancy packaging. And they will charge you $99 dollerydoos for the privilege.

I mean, the picture above would indicate that it is literally the exact same Paramount Presents UHD as from the US version.

It was said in the other thread that the soundtrack has updated sound effects. So I guess if those things are fine with you.

I love the look of the lenticular slipbox. But the more I look at the steelbook art, I'm beginning to say no. And I'm really debating whether or not to buy WOTW again for a fourth time. But, then again, at least the steelbook and the slipbox have the correct color of Mars, sort of.

The color of Mars has been altered from the original red as still verifiable today in the original trailer for the film.

The original mono track is not present, only a very modern remix from a sound designer from STAR WARS is.

This is not misinformation. These are verified facts.

Except the whole incorrect color of Mars, which is both easily provable and has been confirmed via multiple original sources. So yeah, it’s botched. Zero misinformation there, but you know that.

That's some bland Steelbook art. They should have used the same art as the outer box, or its original poster art or something.

edit: It sort of unintentionally compliments this UK release of Black Christmas too

The color of Mars is not incorrect. It has just been revised in a new color grade and frankly is more realistic than the original grade. It is still orange with blue clouds, just not Cheetos orange like original grade - more of a ruddy orange more in line with the real life color of the planet. Like most older films that are restored in 4K some color revisions were made, which is not "incorrect." if you are going by Bill Hunts photos you have been misled as they are objectively inaccurate. Paramount Presents 4K war of the worlds is better than all previous versions, by far.

1. It doesn’t match the appearance of Mars as shown in the film’s actual trailer. Like the new grade all you want but it’s objectively incorrect.

2. I notice you’re avoiding the discussion about only offering a modern remix.

Are you new to 4K remasters? Why don't you check out Goodfellas original trailer versus the 4K UHD of Goodfellas & tell me how they look compared to each other. How a trailer looks doesn't mean much of anything. There are even tons of 1080p blu-rays that look vastly different than the trailers.

Again hardly the only 4K disc that doesn't offer the original mix. Blade Runner, Evil Dead, The Thing, etc. List goes on and on. While I also prefer original audio I would not throw away vastly superior video to get it in most cases.

The bottom line is the Paramount presents 4K disc is by far no contest 100% the best version of War of the world's available. Avoiding it for these reasons is just doing a disservice to your own viewing pleasure.

In the other thread a poster was discussing how the new audio mix for Marry Poppins included new sound FX and then speculated that this may also be the case for WotW.

I don’t know if anyone has actually confirmed that to be the case with WotW or if it’s just being assumed because it has a new audio mix.
