Well, that's what made them HD "supporters" so why not?

I bought HD because of a player I could afford that did what I wanted. I've dropped HD now because of the studio announcements (get out quick while I can recoup money with returns).

I've not bought into BD yet because it doesn't have a player I can afford that does what I want. Until then, I CAN'T buy in. Not "won't" but "can't".

Took the words out of my mouth. Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong Blu supporter. It's just that I'm not rich hehe. We all know Blu-has defeated HD DVD. All the people that were "on the fence" are still on the fence, they just have one foot on the ground.

If you knew the amout of plea bargaining, negotiation and debate that went on between me and Mrs Cupier over the purchase of our HD DVD player (especially when she claims not to be able to tell the difference between SD DVD and HDM), dual format was never going to be an option to me.

Indeed, it's only because of some extreme luck with the returns policy of my retailer, meaning I can still recoup all of my hardware purchase costs, that means I can contemplate buying BD at all.

I lost quite a bit of face over the issue when the recent changes happened (backing the wrong horse in a 2 horse race looks bad, m'kay) so it was only through some real top quality brinksmanship on my part that I was able to get her to agree that the money returned on the HD DVD player could go into "some other HD box". (mental note to self, never marry an accountant with bad eyesight)

It was a bit disappointing for me to discover that my £300 budget would not yet get me a BD player that had 5.1 analog outs and would decode all the HD audio formats. I realise the situation is blurred slightly since my HDEP35 never decoded DTSMA, and DTSMA decoding is still the main sticking point on the BD player side, but there are very few HD DVD movies with DTSMA whereas it seems much more commonplace in BD.

Still, it's clearly just a waiting game.
