Last month, Prime released the 90-minute film Lumière!, and it appears to be the first time it has been available with English commentary (it's hard to confirm this online since the title is so generic). Stream here: https://www.amazon.com/Lumière-Thier.../dp/B07PQTG2K8
It is a basic montage of 114 films (each about 50 seconds long) from 1895-1905, by the inventors of cinema, Auguste and Louis Lumière. Most people know the famous "Arrival of a Train (L'arrivée d'un train en gare de la Ciotat)", included in this trailer: Commentary from Thierry Frémaux, the director of the Institut Lumière in Lyon, France. Subtitles in English. For background on the film, check out this review: http://lukemckernan.com/2015/11/15/lumiere-forever/ Originally titled Lumière! L'aventure commence. French Blu-ray set with 2nd disc of additional documentaries: https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00SVF132A Alternate spelling for search: Lumiere 2015 Blu-ray now on Amazon Prime. |
