Every time a movie previously held hostage in a boxset gets a standalone release, an angel gets his wings.

Does this open the door for Taxi Driver/The Social Network? I know those had steelbooks but eh, steelbooks.

I'm surprised they don't do standards as MOD and just make the steelbooks the wide version, not like they have a lot of stores to stock anymore anyway. |

Sony farm out the authoring and it's not great. The encodes are still betterer than the average Paramount UHD, true, but simply aren't as good as Sony proper.

Am I glad this is coming out, getting out of the exclusivity boxset and getting DV to boot? Yes.
Am I glad it's a MOD, therefore, more expensive (adding importing too), 4K only, and no international options, just English? No. It's been a while that at this rate, being that I speak and understand English, the language barrier is not an issue if something I want doesn't get released internationally, so I'm the type that appreciates whatever good movie gets in 4K regardless if it's a ''USA only local'' or something that gets more audios so it has chances of releasing here. But that does not take out the ''incredibly expensive barrier'' as there's too many titles staying in the US that I want, that cost me like 40-50 each, and it's annoying. I'm excited it gets out, I really am, but I'm starting to be bothered by the downs more than the ups. The costs, the lack of international options.. what if they end up releasing Annie (1982) which I deeply want, this way? They did release Muppets Take Manhattan only in the US. I wanted it, still do, but import makes it harder. |
