Sony Pictures Sense and Sensibility (1995) 4K UHD (30th Anniversary Edition)

Sony will be releasing Sense and Sensibility (1995) individually on 4K on August 19th for the film's 30th Anniversary! The film was previously released as part of the Columbia Classics Volume 2 set. This new relaese will also have Dolby Vision for the first time. It will be a MOD-distributed release.

Quote:
Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant star in this captivating romantic comedy. Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY tells of the Dashwood sisters, sensible Elinor (Thompson) and passionate Marianne (Winslet), whose chances at marriage seem doomed by their family's sudden loss of fortune. Rickman, Grant and Greg Wise co-star as the well-intentioned suitors who are trapped by the strict rules of society and the conflicting laws of desire.

Every time a movie previously held hostage in a boxset gets a standalone release, an angel gets his wings.

Glad I didn't plunk down a cool $75+ on Ebay, I had a few on my watch list. Will this be a MOD like Little Women?

I didn't realize this got a columbia classics release! I'm thinking this probably won't have a blu ray included?

I wonder if Anatomy of a Murder from the same set will get a criterion 4k release.

I did 40 GBP so not too bad, was 2 years ago.

I would be more sad if this wasn't a MOD.

Does this open the door for Taxi Driver/The Social Network? I know those had steelbooks but eh, steelbooks.

I was going to say I'm surprised it's not a steelbook like nearly all of Sony's catalog titles and stuff from the sets that's getting a separate release, so MOD makes sense.

I'm surprised they don't do standards as MOD and just make the steelbooks the wide version, not like they have a lot of stores to stock anymore anyway.

Is this the best you can do? Come on man, you're slacking. Go find us some more new releases (not these previously released movies) and don't come back until you do.

[Show spoiler]All in good fun, lol. Thanks for finding new releases

Thought the 4K of this looked spectacular. I'm sure Dolby Vision will be a plus but I can't complain about what I already got.

I’d love for Sony to release, individually, the rest of their titles that are currently locked to their big box sets. Pipe dream, I know.

Gah, another MOD one. Makes it easier to skip these DV reissues.

There's only like 3 from vol 1 and 2 that haven't had a solo release yet, I think none from 3 and 4 from 4 and none from 5, but 5 is still so recent. Seems like they're slowly working through them

Sony farm out the authoring and it's not great. The encodes are still betterer than the average Paramount UHD, true, but simply aren't as good as Sony proper.

Am I glad this is coming out, getting out of the exclusivity boxset and getting DV to boot? Yes.

Am I glad it's a MOD, therefore, more expensive (adding importing too), 4K only, and no international options, just English? No.

It's been a while that at this rate, being that I speak and understand English, the language barrier is not an issue if something I want doesn't get released internationally, so I'm the type that appreciates whatever good movie gets in 4K regardless if it's a ''USA only local'' or something that gets more audios so it has chances of releasing here. But that does not take out the ''incredibly expensive barrier'' as there's too many titles staying in the US that I want, that cost me like 40-50 each, and it's annoying.

I'm excited it gets out, I really am, but I'm starting to be bothered by the downs more than the ups. The costs, the lack of international options.. what if they end up releasing Annie (1982) which I deeply want, this way? They did release Muppets Take Manhattan only in the US. I wanted it, still do, but import makes it harder.
