One wonders if we would have got this in the UK were it not for the recent tragic news regarding Whitney. I guess this and Malcolm X will be our lot for Warners calalogue releases for the next couple of months - pityful!

Yes. It's definitely been planned for a while if it's just been announced for UK release and comes out in under two months.

It was announced before Christmas for roughly the same date in US

And yeah, you're probably right, unfortunately.
Not sure if we'll even be getting Malcolm X as it was coming in January but got 'pulled from schedule', and HMV is currently the only place you can pre-order it from at the moment.

We are supposed to be getting The Last of the Mohicans and Space Jam in "mid 2012", but knowing WBUK they'll change their minds.

Pretty obvious they are cashing in on her death, but that's business for you. You just have to look at her posthumous album sales to see why they are doing it.

Wonder if that would have been a £7.99 release had Whitney hung on till April ?

So many older titles are coming out at £7.99. Think its a shame to cash in an extra fiver a pop just cause she died. Poor taste WB, poor taste.

Just pre-ordered this! It says £13.99 on Amazon UK but came up with £11.66 when completing the order. Not sure why but I won't complain

Just brought home my Australian copy and took a quick look.
Absolutely dreadful picture quality.
Loads of (too much) grain and washed out, dim colour.
A real disappointment! It doesn't look like there's been any attempt to remaster.
Assuming (because it's Warner), that this transfer is the same worldwide.
Interested to hear other peoples impressions.

There is a DTS HDMA 5:1 audio track and a zillion subtitle/language choices

Is this now uncut? 9 frames were removed for a slap. wanted to know if they were restored for this release.

Anybody know if the UK version is any worse than the US (cuts, PQ)?
