Default Spidey PS3 verses retail

Is there any difference between the free Spidey 3 in the PS3 box and the retail version? (extras or anything)...

They are both terrible movies no matter which one you get.
I got the trilogy for xmas, and had never seen 3.
After watching it, I wish I could erase it from my mind.
I dont know what the hell they were thinking.

Easy...

Marvel: "Fans wants teh Ven0m!!!!"
Raimi: "Um... We already have a villian."
Marvel: "Oh n00000zzz! We need teh Ven0m!!!!1.4% Youz n0 get teh monies if Ven0m = v0id!"
Raimi: "Fine, fine... I'll add Venom..."
Marvel: "Yay! Let's go make another Fantastic Four movie!!!"

Paraphrased, but basically Marvel forced Venom on Raimi. He didn't want Venom, but was told that he had to include the character. One mess of a script later and viola! Spider-Man 3!

I fear that "Spider-Man 4" will follow in the footsteps of another horrible #4 super-hero film: "Batman and Robin"

Thats totally not true. Raimi did an interview after the 1st spider man where every fan was asking about if Venom would be in the second one. He said that he and his brother were huge venom fans and wanted to do it, but had to come up with the right story. Marvel didnt force it on anyone.

I agree. By no means was it a masterpiece, but It was a decent movie. They could have tappered back the Mary Jane singing stuff

Not true. One example from AICN's review:

Quote:
Raimi is a Silver Age Spider-Man fan… like me. He’s a Steve Ditko and John Romita Spidey fan. Raimi has admitted to not liking the character of Venom – and frankly I agree.
About.com's 2006 Comic-Con Report:

Quote:
Sam Raimi on the Decision to Include Venom in Spider-Man 3: “Avi Arad, who’s really got his pulse on all the Marvel fans better than any head of the corporation has ever understood those people that are interested in the corporation’s product - he really knows what those kids want - he said, ‘You’ve had two Spider-Man pictures. This third one - there’s so many kids, so many fans of Spider-Man want to see Venom. Even if you didn’t grow up with him, they want to see him. You’ve got the Sandman, that’s one of your favorite villains. Why don’t you bring Venom in also and make those kids, the fans of Venom, happy?’ So I thought that’s what we should do.”
That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement from the director to me... I could be wrong, I suppose. :shrugs: In addition, you have to realize that that comment was made PRIOR to the movie being released. He's not going to complain prior to the movie being released and he won't complain now because there's plenty of money to be made from producing Spider-Man 4. The fact that he's not willing to direct it is interesting, however...

Mary Jane period was my main reason for disliking this film. She complained/cried/played the victim waaaaaay too much. Spidey is fighting a man made of freaking SAND without complaint and MJ is crying because her acting career took a temporary detour? That's a bit lame in my opinion.

I bought it at a used place and had no idea that it was only one disc....but the box and artwork looked the same.....and no mention of the extra features on the back so it is different packaging

You could make a long list of this film's faults. I've been reading comics since I was able to read, and this movie is one of the rare times for me that it felt like watching a comic book on film. Comic movies offer their take on a comic, but seldom do they feel this genuine to me. It is by no means a great film, but it reminded me of being 8 years old and thinking comics were the coolest thing in the world. It was easily my favourite of the three.

Is it the same video encoding? I mean I don't watch most of the extra features on a disc normally, but is the movie encoding to HD the same quality in both the retail and PS3 versions?

I just laughed when I noticed that venom was played by that guy from that 70's show. My main problem with the movie is its too long for its own good.

apparently, the venom alien thing knows how to play jazz piano... as a spidey fan, i was completely dissappointed with the spidey 3... it was too long, too many people involved... it was hurried. They crammed two decent movies together into one convoluted, boring one.
