The book is fun. I sort of know Hendrix, and he's a fun guy.

Yeah, I mostly enjoyed the book. I'm not big on exorcism movies and the horror element of the book was just okay, but I really loved the characters and the friendship between the two leads. The movie looks super fun, maybe even better than the book?

It dropped on Amazon Prime yesterday evening and I watched it.

The trailers really make it look like a standard horror-comedy, but it's actually surprisingly dark for most of its running time, to the point, you really forget its supposed to be a horror-comedy. It's a movie about bullying (the demon makes Heather Chandler and Regina George look like model citizens) and it goes into some hard and really uncomfortable places. There's also some freaky visuals,

I watched it tonight as well. It was okay. Like I said above, I think exorcism movies just aren't my thing, so that element of it was not super interesting to me. There's some fun stuff in here, but it started to feel really long after a while.

The book did a much better job with the girls and their friendship. I thought it was awkward that near the beginning they have this big scene where they're taking a magazine quiz and mention how all the questions are about boys, then they basically explain to the audience how messed up it is that a woman's value is only in their relation to men. Then half of the dialogue between the girls in this movie is about boys, fighting over the meathead boyfriend, and lusting after their priest / teacher guy.

This was just okay. Amazon sure is dropping these movies without any promo lol. They come and go so quickly without making any noise.
