Strange that they're releasing the seasons together. I would have preferred separate releases, since I like having individual seasons, and I'm curious why it took them so long to release a Blu-ray version. Still, great that it's coming out. Terrific show, one of the very few cable series that I watch.

And releasing both seasons together makes sense, because that is only 23 episodes, which corresponds perfectly to the more common output for a single season of a network show. For myself, I have never seen the show, but I hear good things, so I will definitely be picking this up, if only to support more "surprise" BD releases like this. I'm also pleased to see WB will use six discs instead of the usual four--hopefully a sign of high bitrate presentations, like the most recent Archive live-action BDs. Finally! This show looks outstanding in HD, and it seemed like such a waste to only have it available in SD. Glad I held off on buying the DVDs, then!
I love the show, and right now, I've been binge-reading the novels. Excellent series that actually gets better with each entry. Can't wait for Season 3! |

Confirmation:
All six discs in this set are region-free. ![]() As predicted, these Warner Archive discs go against WB proper tradition and provide high bitrate presentations, especially in the first season, where there are less episodes and less extras. Additionally, each disc contains disc art of a single solid color (varying from disc-to-disc) and the logo, season and disc number (1-6) are clearly printed on each disc--a nice touch, and one that means these discs were intended to be sold together, not as separate seasons. Each season has three BD-50 discs, and each episode comes with 24-bit DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio and optional English SDH subtitles (in capital font) only. All extra content is presented in 1080p23.976 (one featurette is 1080i29.970) with 24-bit DTS-HD MA 2.0 audio. The extras (including the extended episodes) are not subtitled. Disc scans will be coming shortly. |
