I was hoping to get some advice as to what I can do with some older digital copies with codes. These are the older style that included the digital copy on a disc with a code and you could transfer them to iTunes or Windows. Some of them have transferred without a problem while others have either expired or don't work properly.
In the past I had issues with Warner discs and when I contacted support they just gave me the run around. When my Incredible Hulk digital copy didn't transfer I was able to contact Universal Support and they sent me a new code to redeem. I have a Dark Crystal & Hancock(Sony) and Max Payne & The Day The Earth Stood Still(Fox) Anyone have experience trying to get updated digital copies from their old DVD's with those companies? Thanks in advance. |

Those old Digital Copies on a Disc are past the expiration date, so they probably won't work. They were meant as Downloads to play on your Devices, not the same as a Digital Code for a Streaming Movie. Probably your best bet to get a Digital Copy is Vudu D2D.

They are called XML's, some will still work and some won't. Unfortunately now all XML's are redeeming in standard definition. You can do a work around if you have the code but lost the disc. No studio is going to replace the older XML codes. Some XML codes are still in demand like Real Steel, no other digital code was produced afterwards.

Like 6 months ago you could enter your old xml warner brothers code on Warner brothers newer digital copy site and it would regenerate a new hd uv code.
Fox was basically worthless in my experience they wont help for shit. universal and HBO and Warner if you call customer service will ask for pictures of the discs case along with like your email address. Disney used to just add the movie to your collection when they had dma I haven't dealt with them since movies anywhere besides one call where they did not help me at all. Sony will straight up ignore you and waste your time. As far as customer service for fixing missing or broken codes i would rank them sony<fox<Disney<universal<HBO<=warner. Disney used to be the best but its really gone down hill with customer service since dma became ma. Warner brothers is the best but its kind of sad how often I have to email them for missing codes (because they make identical products except a digital copy code is missing making tons of stores pull basically bait and switches) |

Pretty much exactly as veritas details above.
I keep a database of all codes. That way if something happens, like Warner XML codes above working, I can pull it from the database. Often codes are "expired" only to be renewed. But as noted above, the very oldest codes are indeed expired. And Universal has been allowing their codes to expire (rather than renew). These would be their oldest UV/iTunes codes. It's likely a move to end their UV ties. |

I've been consolidating some of my older blu's into binders just to recover some shelf space and many had that digital copy DVD. Just hated to junk them. Sorry for being off topic. I searched the forums a while back for anything related but didn't find. |

As everyone said, it depends on the studio. A few months ago I bought Star Trek 2009 special edition that came with a digital copy brand new. The code was expired but I tried Paramount's customer service just in case, they asked me for some details: pics of the code, bar code of the movie and my email written next to the expired code. After I provided them the pictures they emailed me back with a new code for iTunes.
