Default How would you rate Chibnall’s run on Doctor Who? 1-10?

So, Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker are leaving, Doctor Who this autumn of 2022. Bringing back Russell T. Davies! But, after what Doctor Who has been through, this era, their are mixed reactions to this era, so what would you rate this era? 1-10?

What would you say?

The second-best doctor (Tennant will always be my favorite), but the worst stories.
In general I missed the sense of awe and wonder the series gave me in the past. I had the impression that it was like a fanfiction, with elements taken from the previous authors but with a limited vision and with no proper direction.
Though, from their first series they always got better; Flux was a great improvement, and the last special was really fun.
I'd say 6-7.

Hope they will leave on a higly positive note!

Amid the train wreck that was the recent “Chibnall era” of Doctor Who (Chibnall was an awful storyteller and serial plagiarist) there was one good new element: the guest appearance of a hitherto unknown incarnation of the Doctor, played by Jo Martin. She was a natural - instantly believable as a time lord. Chibnall stole the idea of adding an unknown Doctor into the past but the casting was phenomenal. And her introduction was ground-breaking in that she was the first black actor to play the Doctor, and only the second woman to do so. It was a shame that she was only in a couple episodes.

Last week’s announcement that she will be in some audio dramas is both good and bad. It is good that she will be in an audio drama, but it strongly indicates that she won’t be in the next tv series; the BBC would not have let her character be in the audio dramas if they had plans for her on tv.

When I compare it to every incarnation from the classic era the TV movie and the new era it is my least favorite. I will watch it again just like all the other dvds and blus of the show I have. I feel like the series is running out of gas and probably needs to put on hiatus again. Maybe RTD can change that. I will wait and see.

I've thoroughly enjoyed every episode they've made. I genuinely think there's never been a better moment to be a DW fan - nearly 60 years' worth of the show easily available, and so many younger fans discovering the show every day.

So many new younger fans discovering it that it's lost 7.49m viewers since Chibnall's first episode as showrunner and just posted the worst ratings in the show's entire history.

A lot of the younger fans are also discovering the show by watching classic Who on streaming or blu-ray.

Bluray sales are down - it's only the classic show that manages one entry low in the annual top 100 sales charts (and the funding deal for animating lost episodes has ended and is yet to be renewed) - streaming services are shedding subscribers and the show has a lower than average percentage of catchup/iplayer/all platforms viewers. People aren't changing the way they're watching it, they're stopping watching it altogether. It's losing viewers across the board.

Yes! Jo Martian was excellent!

I totally get it with Chibnall, he is trying to gather younger and news audiences to the show, I totally get it. I really do. But what about the fans that have deserved better during his run, and have been watching this show for years!? Come on Chibnall!

Some “Chibnall” episodes and specials stand out to me, not all but some. I feel a lot of episodes are missing the major ingredient that puts Doctor Who out there. . . FUN! That is what is missing.

And besides, I do not entirely enjoy, Chibnall adding a lot of the world’s current problems or just trends into the show. Yeah, you have to keep up with the times, but do you think he going extreme on that? I feel as that Doctor Who, should be a show where you escape that.

Yes. “Flux” was a big improvement. But he is trying to hard. I liked the Sea Devils special, I enjoyed it. I am excited for the season final. Looks bad ass!

Really? I thought it was excellent and far more superior than the previous special. But I do believe that Chibnall is trying to hard.

Yes. Sadly it is. His writing is just complete laziness and shit.

What, to you, makes it perfect? Is it the acting, the writing? What is it? Please explain.
